Television GEN V (Season 2 Returns Sept. 17, 2025)

I've literally heard nothing about Season 2 aside from this thread title.

Is it any good?
It's worth watching but is starting to resemble some teen drama that should be on the WB with some random nudity, extreme gore, and shock factor thrown in.

I'm getting tired of these shows (I"m looking at you too Peacemaker) where we wait forever for 8 episodes and they have a pace of a daytime soap opera.

But ya, worth a few hours of your time to watch b/c there are some good laughs and stuff like that.

Yeah it's only 8 episodes, may as well power through. I guess the season finale is already next week.

I was right, of course: Burned Old Guy was actually the Big Bad and, "Cipher" was just his meat-puppet. Godolkin is basically Evil Professor X, with the same game plan as Apocalypse.

Just like Magneto, I'm always right. ;)

The G Men, even in the comics, were always meant to be a(very)twisted piss-take of the X Men. The series is really leaning into during S2.

- Godolkin/Cipher is obviously Professor X, with the eugenics world view of Apocalypse. Only the strongest Supes deserve to live. Weak Supes, like Humans themselves, are worthless in his eyes.

His ability to possess other people also resembles the Shadow King, one of Professor X's earliest foes, and almost up there with Magneto when it comes to being Xavier's archenemy.

- Speaking of Eric, Polarity is obviously the Master of Magnetism. Making him the good guy who's fighting to save his people from an evil Prof X is a nice touch.

- Jordon is Mystique: can change gender and is in a relationship with a woman.

- Sam is Legion: extremely powerful but with severe mental health issues.

- Cate is Emma Frost: a blond Telepath who's used her Powers selfishly. She's trying to reform, but even her peer group find it difficult to trust her because of what she did in the past.

- Harper is Rogue, in that she can copy other people's Powers and skills for a brief time if she makes physical contact. Unlike Rogue, Harper doesn't seem to have a problem with touching people normally if she wants to.

- Tyler Oppenheim is Shadowcat: he can phase through solid objects.

- Steve is Iceman.

- Hemple(Bondage Baby)poor bastard, is a piss-take of Beast, specifically the pre-transformation Hank in X Men: First Class.

- Maria herself resembles Elixir from the New Mutants in terms of of her Biokinesis Powers.

It was a funny gag to have some guy suck things in with his butt repeatedly but it also seems like lazy writing by some writer who is a homosexual. Some of these powers are very dumb like Z list X-men.

When Jordan broke marie hymen that would have been a lethal situation.

The comic is pretty much exactly Z list x-men, there is a scene in the comic where these X-men tropes are just sitting on a couch jerking each other off nonchalantly as they watch a movie

Yeah they're no Love Sausage that's for sure

Well thats actually one of the plot points. Golovkin wants to weed out all the z-level sups with dumb powers.

This is crazy. I was looking at the Dean and thinking, where have I seen this guy before? Finally it clicked. It's the Son from hereditary. Damn.

It makes sense he's strong because he's Paimon, one of the 8 kings of hell

I wasn't a fan of all the sister sage shenanigans with godolkin. She didn't even have to be in gen V. The woman who could grow her muff gave me two good laughs.

- Emma is the MVP. The Rememberer scene, where's she's baked off her face, made me lol. <lmao>

- Too much Teen Drama. I don't need to know that Maria was a virgin before hooking up with Jordon. Or watch her argue with her aunt. Also, she's a very attractive girl, but for the love of God, someone get her a tier-one hairdresser. Stat! It looks like several dozen rats died on her head.

- Cipher is interesting. If Polarity is an obvious Boys-verse equivalent of Magneto, albeit with only a fraction of Erik's power, then Cipher is an evil Professor X, down to having his own Danger Room. Although at this point we have no idea what his Powers are. One scene in the trailer shows him stab himself in the hand with a knife that Polarity was threatening him with, and show no reaction to the injury. Which may indicate he has the same type of blood-based power as Marie and Newman.
It was very distracting how terrible her hair is. She is so pretty that she made sister sage look very average by comparison.

I finally caught up with The Boys, and wanted some more hijinks, so I checked this out. And after two episodes I have to ask... does it get any better?

I was pretty bored through the first two episodes. I don't care about the two main characters at all. I got tired of the dick jokes almost immediately. And I honestly hate teenagers, which makes this an uphill battle to begin with. I was initially excited to see Clancy Brown as the obvious bad guy.... and well... yeah.

Nowhere near as good as The Boys. Maybe worth watching anyway if you have time. I didn't mind season 1. Season 2 seemed like they took 2 episodes worth of material and spread it across 8 episodes, with a bunch of Teen drama and over the top gags tossed in. Season 1 maybe a 6 or 7. Season 2 maybe a 3 or 4. The Boys is at least a 9 for me.
