Goodridge, while not during his Pride run, forever blessed us with one of the most brutal MMA moments of all time. Hespect.

That history I don't know, but we've seen others use the crucifix (perhaps not as effectively)...How did he come up with this slick move, just on the fly? The guy was an arm wrestler.

I think what a lot of people forget is that was the first damn thing that happened in the fight. 20 seconds total lol

I don't know dude. Remember there's like at least 30 pounds of muscle weight difference between Goodridge and the other guy, and the gi makes it much easier to trap limbs. In modern MMA it wouldn't be the same.Guys should bring this position back...its quite effective as a anti wrestling attack...when guys shoot you sprawl ..turn to the side and roll into it and unleash the hellbows...
Creative and effective
Also Canada bless much Hespetch to the Gary Goodridge
It's funny you mention seeing this as a kid and thinking that way afterwards. I saw this and many early UFCs whilst sneaking and watching them on my uncle's satellite, he had one of those cards that opened all the channels, and me and my cousin were always sneaking and watching early UFCs because we weren't allowed "to watch that violent trash" lolol.TBF it's still not a silly thought looking back at it, in this fight Goodridge looked like what I described. Like he'd been an expert most of his life. The GI helped too.
The fuck is up with all these pat on the backs for old pride guys?
