This is a huge opportunity for him in his sixth UFC fight. I think he gets it done against Dariush, who I feel is a bit overrated. He just beat a better opponent in Tsarukyan. Does Gamrot win and get a title shot?

I hope he gets the next TS

I think he’s the toughest fight in the division for both Islam and Oliveira

He has some of the best wrestling/grappling in MMA history IMO just judging by the eye test… he’s such a pleasure to watch if you’re a grappling nerd
This, and actually multiple new breed LWs can he held up in similar regards. Whoever wins next Saturday will have their work cut out for them over the next 2 years.

Dariush is up in age and tends to gas, that's not good, especially against monster like Gamrot. Besides a hail Mary one shot ko, Gamrot has Dariush covered everywhere.

I remember when 95% of Sherdog was sure Gamrot was going to be easy work for Arman.
Now he's the next biggest thing.
Keep overcompensating Sherdog.

Dariush will by far be his hardest fight ever. I think a win will sky rocket him to be in title talks. I think a loss doesn't hurt him that bad actually. Time is on his side.

Dariush takes this.

I'd even put an Av bet up on it.

Ppl talk a game for gamrot, but when it comes down to it, they know he's gonna be on the wrong side of the result.

I'm not writing Dariush off so easily, though either could stop the other. Dariush is on a better and longer win streak, and had he not pulled out of his last fight, might have been the first to stop Islam. So many great fights on this upcoming PPV though, and I'll be happy for all the winners no matter who they are.

On paper, maybe. I think arman is a tougher matchup than dariush at this point in time. But I guess we shall see

I thought dariush could beat Islam but what do I know. Fucking injury robbed us of that fight but I'm in agreement that Islam shouldn't have been forced to sit and wait for Benny to heal.

I feel this is as much a potential banana skin as the Victor Henry-Raphael Assuncao fight.

I was convinced Henry would win after looking slick, but Dariush is a wily warhorse who won't go down lightly.

Different fighters obv, but when I think about it, I'm not sure Dariush should be a dog.

He's got a great shout. But the fact this conversation is taking place when Kutateladze is in the division shows you just how ridiculously strong this division is.

For people who weren't following Gamrot outside the UFC, the guy fought a lot of great fighters like Kleber Koike, Mansour Barnaoui, Marif Piraev and even in the UFC Diego Ferreira went tooth and nail with Dariush, Kutateladze and Arman are both top 10 caliber. I think this is a bit different but I do think it's a close fight, Beneil has all the power Standing and is the bigger more aggressive guy. On the mat Beneil had an amazing guard at the Purple and Brown belt level medalling in and out of the Gi at world's in Bjj but we haven't seen that part of his game tested too much in MMA, Beneil gasses though and Gamrot is a grinder of the highest degree we know he can fo 25 minutes strong, he's the better athlete and the quicker fighter. Gamrot will most likely dictate the pace and where the fight takes place, Beneil will have the more significant moments early and depending on how much he fades Gamrot probably pulls away with another hard fought decision.

It also shows how bullshit the rankings are lol

Must be really frustrating to be one of the best fighters in the deepest divisions and not be ranked because the UFC wants to bury you

Yeah Dariush has good BJJ, but I don’t think he could win the ADCC trials like Gamrot did

Gamrot’s overall grappling ability is a lot higher IMO

Look at how they both did against Ferreira

I'm not a fan of Ismagulov but he's another one. These three can bloody give the top fucking 3 nightmares, and they are all relatively unheralded - Gamrot, Guram, Ismagulov.

Honestly, Dariush did a lot better on the mat with ferreira than Gamrot did If I'm remembering correctly

Yeah all the matchmaking and ranking bullshit the UFC does to push certain guys and bury others pisses me off more than anything else in MMA by far

I’d have to rewatch the fights. I remember Dariush winning the grappling, but it was somewhat back and forth with Ferreira winning some of the exchanges throughout the fight.

I remember Gamrot taking him down at will and being in control every time a grappling exchange occurred, Ferreira was able to get up a few times early, but I think Gamrot is really smart about his energy management and didn’t fight super hard to keep him down. And he ended up getting the finish fairly early while Dariush won a split decision.

Like I said I’d have to rewatch both fights though.

Arman would destroy Tony & Gamrot ran through CDF whereas Beneil won 29-28. Longer yes, better I don't think so.

That being said I expect this to be a very competitive fight that probably goes the distance.
