Arguably the best fight ever.

Hendo vs Shogun 1 was a slop fest after 2 rounds, Lawler vs Rory 2 had a bit of a slow build up, Diego vs Gil was a shutout that Gil decided to make competitive for a bit.

Had a half hour to kill. Re-watched the first fight. If you dont care about my opinion you can stop here.

Watched this with sound... then watched it muted.

I first thought Gus won it definitively when I watched it with commentary. Rogan had a biased based commentary because he pointed out all Alex's success more than Jons because we were/are not used to seeing Jon get worked in a fight by anybody else. When muted I saw a dif fight. Jones round 3, 4 and 5. Round 4 was Alex's until the end when Jon caught Alex with the spinning elbow, backing him up and following with knees, Gus clearly was hurt, Jon ended the round strong. Round 5 Jones got the take down and Gus ate some shots backed up from that point on. Putting his hands on his hips, Gus was done going into round 5. So, yeah, Rematch should be great! Jones won the first fight by a small margin.

I think Gus had it until the late 4th round. That spinning elbow sort of sealed his fate.

I never understood watching it with sound and then watching it without sound. I don't pay much attention to the commentary. I haven't watched that fight in a long time, will watch it today again. I was rooting for Gus but I felt it could have gone either way.

Jones won fight one. It was close but he edged it.

Its why fight 2 is so interesting. Gus is the closest thing we have to an actual jones defeat in mma.

I was there watching it live I thought Jones won. I watched it at home and think Jones won. I really don't even see how anyone could think jones didn't win

gusto did enough to win

but i can see why some think jj won. i simply dont think his leg kicks and occasional spinning shit outweighed gustos boxing and constant pressure. he was the more skilled fighter. jj def showed cardio and will that we havent ever seen before from him.
