Earlier today I got in to a discussion with a poster on Youtube who claimed that Kung Fu masters were superior to Mixed Martial Artists and would beat them in a fight to the death because Kung Fu was designed to kill and MMA is a sport with rules. I just finished watching a video with Freddie Lee, the Kung Fu master who hates MMA, who takes objection to the claim that Conor McGregor is the Bruce Lee of MMA. You can watch the video above for yourself. Basically Freddie Lee does not feel that Conor McGregor can represent Bruce Lee because of his race and the fact that he has lost fights. He doesn't feel McGregor is on Bruce Lee's level. At the end he said something very interesting about him being the better representative of Bruce Lee for the modern era and that he would fight him for that title.

Now of course he said that this fight would never happen. After all why would a professional fighter worth millions fight a Martial Artist who is relatively unknown? I agree with him there. I don't think Conor McGregor would ever bother with Freddie Lee. But what if he did? Freddie says that if the fight happened it would be a street fight with no rules. This got me thinking, ok they would not fight literally on the street but what if they fought in a gym in front of a video camera with no rules? Don't think the fight can't happen either. For example look at Deontay Wilder vs. Charlie Zelenoff. Charlie was a Youtube troll who challenged people including professional fighters to Boxing matches. He fought Floyd Mayweather Sr. and Deontay Wilder in a gym in front of a camera. What you do in your gym is your business. The UFC would not like it but what if we created enough buzz about this fight that it got McGregor's attention and he accepted the fight?

This would be the perfect matchup to test the claims over Kung Fu vs. MMA and it would give Freddie Lee what he wants.

Again I very much doubt this would happen but I want to raise awareness on the off chance that something does happen and generate discussion.

Freddie Lee is a delusional narcissist could couldn't bust a grape, h 5'5 and walks around at 145 lbs, closet homo imo.

Bruce Lee's real fights probably consisted of mostly a bunch of stiff legged stand up fighters with zero wrestling and ground to threaten. And piss poor Eastern "boxing"

"we're too good for this sport, we'd kill you all"

Street fight w/ no rules, just go and favor Judo when you get slammed on the Earth itself.

Bruce Lee would get rekt by Joanna. He was essentially the beta version of Ronda: hyped by media, lore and legend into a super human. Didn't we find out hocus pocus martial arts have no place in real fighting. Wait til he feels NCAA blast double and the curtain of Oz will be pulled back.

People say "But Bruce was different"...no, no he wasn't. He just had more bright lights, more media and more hype. He would get utterly destroyed by any member of the Gracie clan.

Just watched a few other videos of this guy. Lol. He is an idiot.

Lol at this chode acting as if he's talking about global warming, child molestation, or human trafficking.
Bruce Lee taught kung fu to outsiders against the wishes of many Chinese masters, so the idea that he would give a fuck about the race of a fellow martial artist is laughable. Being undefeated alone isn't what makes one great. Martial arts is about learning and growing. Bruce Lee was all about learning new styles and adding things to his game. Conor and many other MMA fighters have the same mindset.
And Bruce Lee is world famous decades after his death because he transcended race and culture. The only one being disrespectful to Bruce is this douchebag. And not that it should matter, but I say that as an asian/black guy.

Freddie Lee is basically a Martial Arts purist and extremist. He believes that his expression of Martial Arts is the true way and he idolizes Bruce Lee so I am not surprised that this upset him. I think his logic fails here. People are comparing Conor McGregor to Bruce Lee because of his fighting style and his movement. They are not saying we need to replace Bruce Lee with a modern fighter and there was no reason to interject race in to this. The idea that the UFC is conspiring to white wash Martial Arts and steal it from Asians is absurd. Martial Arts can be practiced by everybody and every group is allowed to compete in the UFC. He is also holding Conor McGregor to a ridiculous standard saying he needs to go 100-0 in MMA and retire undefeated before he can acknowledge him as being on Bruce Lee's level. Bruce Lee was not even a professional fighter. He had zero professional fights and what few fights he had were not recorded. If you believe the testimonials he was a skilled Martial Artist but he was not invincible. I don't even think he was undefeated. His brother said he lost a fight and it inspired him to take up Martial Arts. Who knows if he got beat at any time after practicing Martial Arts.

There are stories and that is all we have.

I also think it is wrong of him to call all Mixed Martial Artists scrubs. That is an insult to the sport and its fighters. If you don't like it that is fine but unless you are willing to fight them and prove you are on their level you shouldn't be comparing yourself to professional fighters or insulting their skill level. In the past Freddie Lee has said he doesn't accept challenges and also said he has never been in a real fight since he started practicing Martial Arts. So this is new territory for him. Realistically I don't think he stands a chance of beating Conor McGregor. He doesn't train in or like ground fighting. His sparring videos shows he doesn't do full-contact striking. If he was a hardass street fighter who practiced Martial Arts he might stand a better chance. But with no fights yourself as a Martial Artist you want fight someone who does this for a living? A world champion? That's not going to end well. I still want to see it though. Freddie Lee has shown the internet his training and his opinions so this is a little different from the typical Kung Fu vs. MMA matchup because this is a guy who while relatively unknown has put himself out there and shown that he is a serious Martial Artist and not just a guy claiming he knows Kung Fu.

For the sake of entertainment and enlightenment we should try to make this happen.
