I think Ngannou is a beast and I believe he has a shot in the Miocic rematch but I was going through the fightmetric stats of Francis Ngannou just now and I noticed that his striking accuracy is 37% which is very poor for a dedicated striker. Indeed, he actually has worse striking accuracy than literally every opponent he's faced, including Anthony Hamilton. What does this say about the sport of MMA that a man like Ngannou is able to consistently defeat and even finish dedicated strikers on the feet despite having some of the worst striking accuracy in the UFC?

That just reminds us modern UFC at the heavier weights is shit ( hey look Glover and rua are on a run in the LHW division too)

When you have insane KO power like he does and in MMA it's only 4 oz gloves, all he needs is just one to land.

Dude doesn't TKO people, he leaves them unconscious. Crazy how easy he put out Bigi Boy.

His stats are highly affected by the Stipe fight, considering he hasnt had to throw a lot of punches in his other fights.

That's his strategy tho...Just go crazy on you, throw as many strikes as he can as fast and as powerful as he can, and just hope 1 lands....At least that's his strategy lately and it's been working.

Accuracy doesn't matter with his strategy...Im sure if he choose to be more methodical, his accuracy would be improved, but with the strategy he has right now, accuracy don't matter.

It doesn't really say anything about the sport of MMA. He has KO power and they wear small gloves. Its part of the game

I'm very amazed that this day and age when the sport of MMA has supposedly evolved light years past the first generation of fighters, someone can still rise to the top using mostly raw athleticism and brute strength. He looked horrible against Rozenstruik but won anyway. Derrick Lewis is another great example. If Brock Lesnar had been better at taking punishment, he might still be the heavyweight champion. He's a much better athlete than either although he couldn't match their punching power.

The HW division peaked long ago and talk of the "evolution" of fighters in the division is just marketing.

What is more efficient: a fighter who lands 100 strikes in 5 sounds with 75% accuracy to win a decision, or a fighter who lands 37% of his strikes and finishes 4 opponents within less than 3 min?
