So I remembered reading about this guy Wolak, a decent professional boxer planning to make his MMA debut.

Looked him up today and it turns out that the Illinois AC wouldn't license him for not having an MMA amateur record. Wolak wrestled in high school and has had extensive grappling training. On top of that, he did receive a licence in New Jersey.

I mean James Toney, Spong are allowed to fight with little to no grappling training, and this guy isn't?

His boxing is too deadly for the commission to handle unleashing on the MMA world, clearly.

that's really shitty cause he worked hard. actually made sure he had somewhat of a ground game before making the transition. have him take like one ammy fight then go pro I guess

how is he going to get a license then? he is a professional in a combat sport so he cant fight as an amateur according to pretty much every commission.

The mention of his name always reminds me of this-
