This fight was a dominant win for Volk and imo Max didn’t deserve an immediate rematch.

Max seemed completely confused by leg kicks, like he’s never had to deal with them before this fight. Max also showed an inability to adjust during the fight, except getting frustrated and trying to fight “harder”.

Volk also out boxed Holloway and hurt him multiple times.

I don’t understand the people who say “both Volkanovski vs Holloway fights were close”. This is not the case at all. The first fight was a technical dismantling of Max Holloway and shouldn’t be referred to as “close” in any way.

Yeah the first one was a total shutout. Volk came in with the perfect gameplan to exploit Max's style.

I agree, immediate rematches are never a good idea, except maybe someone like Anderson or Jones with years of domination.

The craziest part about volk Holloway 1 is that max actually thought he won and acted shocked when the scorecards were read aloud. Dude was beat from start to finish handily.
He had to save face for all of the showboating he did in the fight, like clapping every time Volk hit him.

Max had an unexpected death in the family the week of the fight.

It's not an impressive victory for Volk at all, second fight was a truer represenation
Are you kidding me. Max Holloway fanboys are insufferable these days.

If it affected him that much, he would’ve pulled out of the fight and it’s his responsibility to determine that.

Max had to completely abandon his normal fight style in order to compete with Volk in the second fight. Muay Thai Max.
Exactly. The only reason he knew he needed to change his style completely was by getting shut out by Volk the first time. He would’ve never known to do that beforehand.

You're immature and have never experience the sudden death of a loved one, got it. I'm a "fights > fighter" person, I don't hero worship so I don't care who wins, if you think it didn't have an impact I refer you to my first sentence

Fair; I reckon Max at 100% might've had a better chance of adapting mid-first fight though. We'll never know.
<WhatItIs>

For me personally, that's why I wanna see a third fight. Not because I think Max won the 2nd, but because Max looked off to me in the first one, & it wasn't till after the fight I found out why.

Didn't deserve an immediate rematch? Who else was more deserving at the time?

Max made the proper adjustments and by many peoples' eyes won the second fight. Volk seemed a bit flummoxed when Max mixed up kicks and punches on him.

That alone shows he was deserving of the rematch, it's clear that Volk and Holloway are levels above everyone else in the division.

When deciding whether to give Max an immediate rematch, how would they know if he does better in the rematch or not?

It hadn’t happened yet, and based off how the first fight went, IMO Max didn’t deserve an immediate rematch because he got beaten so dominantly.

Volk fought perfectly that night. Max came back in the rematch and looked significantly better.

I just think fighting Volk makes you do that. (when you lose a point fighty decision)
He did the same to Aldo.

First fight wasn't close. Still don't get people who dispute it. Dominant might not be the right word. Clear seems apt, however. Volk is a bad ass. He deserves more respect around here. Most fighters do.
