Media Flashback to Michael Chandler's plan for "the craziest run in UFC history"

That's the risk you take with the big talk. It all sounds silly now, but we'd all be hearing about Mystic Mike if it had all played out like that.

On one hand you have to be delusional if you're fighting in the UFC, you can't walk in there and just doubt you're going far. You have to believe you'll beat every champ. Look at Conor on his run, his confidence and belief yielded results.

But realistically as fans you have to think these statements are like smoking crack, they would get destroyed here especially if anyone here stated this was their opinion. It also keeps these guys fighting too long like Tony or BJ.

I mean, from a fan point of view his run has been spectacular, and for a financial point of view it has generated him life changing money.

Maybe not winning as many fights as he and his fans would like but a pretty successful and yes, crazy run so far.

WTF would you expect from an athlete coming into the pinnacle organization of the sport? "Yeah, I plan to come in, win one, lose some, probably won't hold up against their best but I'll sure try super duper hard while I'm in there! "

GTFO, these are professional athletes in an individual sport. They have to believe in themselves to sometimes unrealistic points.

I’ll always get a good laugh out of the people who told me he could be champ but would rather get knocked out to put on a show

It’s not that crazy. He almost had Olives outta there in their first fight, so it wasn’t wasn’t a stretch to think he could have won their second match.

Him beating Conor is absolutely not a stretch. Conor coming back, however, was highly unlikely.

No way I’d pick him to beat Islam, but he has to believe himself or why the fuck else bother? And if he beat Olives, he likely would have gotten the next shot, especially with Arman pulling out. From there, he could have had any fight he wanted.

Wiith exception of Conor coming back, this was a very realistic road map for Chandler. So many bums on this forum that they can’t even fathom there’s people out there who visualize their success and set goals.
