MMA is still a relatively a new sport in Vietnam and receive little to no recognition due to the violence display of the sport. But, the most important fact that prevent MMA to grow in Vietnam is due to their perspective in martial arts. Most Vietnameses perspective about martial arts come from watching chinese Kungfu movies, American action and worst of all WWE. That is why when they see an MMA fight, most of them thought these fighters are merely thugs or would not stand a chance against a Kungfu Master.
couple of days ago 2 of the largest MMA gym in Vietnam: Saigon Sport Club lead by former UFC Middleweight champion Dave Menne and Lien Phong Training Center lead by actor , martial artist Johny Tri Nguyen cooperate to create an event for their students to compete and show case their skills and it was very successful.
P/s: MMA is a very new sport in Vietnam and Vietnam is also just a third world country so do not expect to see the level of high level skill in this fight. Instead i would like to introduce to you the state of Vietnamese MMA community. Sorry for the low quality. Thanks
