Hello, I had my first amateur Kickboxing bout this weekend. I started camp in August because the fight was originally supposed to be in early October but the event was postponed to November 20th, somewhere in there I got a new opponent and now here we are! Any criticism and advice is greatly appreciated! I am the blue corner. The audio from the stream is pretty busted, so I would recommend lowering your volume before pressing play. Fight starts around the five minute mark. Thank you for watching!

Nice. You looked really good. How many smokers did you have before this?

I think you could have followed the kicks with a left hook or combinations sometimes. Or mixed the kicks followed with hands or vice versa. But that’s all I really see right now imo everything else will get better with time.

Oh yeah maybe work your power in your punches on the bag. Really get a lot of reps of punching full force.
Also really cool you got a trophy lol

Good stuff, looked very composed and technical for your first fight.

You did a good Job of landing your teep and landing leg kicks as he was circling away.

If you are going to be hyper critical you could say you could have leaned back on the high kicks. Looked like there was one in the first round that you blocked that knocked your head back a bit? That’s a hard skill to do on your first fight though.

weird that they doesn't have the ring for KB fights.
Overall very good for first am fight.

Thank you! I had a Muay Thai smoker in 2019 and three Kickboxing smokers this year. I completely agree about throwing more combinations. I don't have a lot of confidence in my Boxing and was hesitant to throw more (as displayed by that super un-explosive jab haha), also after getting touched by that head kick a couple times it started to seem like his strategy was to set that up and I didn't want to get caught with my guard too low. I am definitely going to be working on my Boxing more though, thank you for the advice!

Thank you! Leaning back on the kicks would have been effective, but I am not ready to do that in a fight yet haha. One day though!

The promoter said they are going to have a ring next time because there will be some pro Kickboxing and Muay Thai on that card, but the majority of the fights on this one were MMA so it made more sense to just have it all in a cage. Thank you for the compliment as well!!

skimmed through it. whats the name of your gym? bang bang kickboxing or something?

you look good. Solid fundamentals. You can tell you have received proper instruction. Didnt spaz out or gas out like your opponent did. I noticed he grabbed onto you a few times falling down, or intentionally falling down trying to take you with him lol. I have had a few guys do similar things, or even intentionally fall over in the clinch bringing you with them cause they didnt want to clinch. Anyways man you looked good. Could have probably really let those kicks rip more and maybe add in the left hook. but yeah looked great.

Bang Bang Kickboxing is correct! The ring announcer asked beforehand if I trained with Duane Ludwig haha. And thank you for the compliments! I agree with your criticisms, after watching the fight I feel like I definitely should have increased the volume. There were a lot of openings for me to push him with punches or land combos that I didn't capitalize on. I may be able to get another fight in January or February, so I am doing a lot of drills and sparring geared towards that now. I will share that footage if I am able to get it.
