Fiorot was the hotness just a little while ago and was basically the shoo-in for the next new title contender, but the issue is that she sort of lost what hype she had built by putting on a pretty lackluster performance against Chookagian. To her credit, she still was dealing with a pretty severe knee injury during that fight IIRC which was affecting her performance (or so she claims) and Chook had missed weight. Even so, the hype fizzled and Fiorot wanted to take a bit of a break to recover before jumping into any potential title conversations so she's accordingly been forgotten about in the meantime.
Blanchfield has risen up in the meantime and has arguably more impressive wins... though that's debatable. Her wins are more recent and she's actually been finishing her last three fights, but only Andrade was ranked at #3. Prior to that she beat McCann at #15 and the rest of her wins were unranked. Fiorot beat #1 Chookagian and #4 Maia with the rest of her wins being unranked. She got last three wins via Decision and they're a bit older, while her best win in Chook -- while ranked highest -- has a head-to-head loss to Blanchfield's best win in Andrade whom Erin finished. No idea if any of that should matter.
Personally, I think the answer is pretty obvious. They're almost certainly going to run Shevchenko/Grasso back (whether I agree with the decision or not). A #1 contender's fight between Fiorot and Blanchfield makes all the sense in the world in the meantime. I think Fiorot said she'd return by Summer or so, so the timelines should match up. Those fights may even end up taking place on the same card.
