Has anyone had any experience with the Fighting Sports No Contact Headgear? I've searched for reviews everywhere (including here) but haven't really found a definitive one. I'm really trying to decide between this and the Fight Gear Deluxe Facesaver Headgear. I've read a lot on the Fight Gear model, but really haven't found any info on the Fighting Headgear.

I have the opportunity to purchase the Fighting headgear for $75 as opposed to $90 for the Fight Gear. I'm inclined to go with the Fighting headgear as I've tried on the Fight Gear headgear and the padding was concrete hard and I've heard it doesn't get much softer (and it's cheaper). Additionally, the bar was placed a bit low for my nose. If anyone has a picture or video of someone wearing the Fighting Sports headgear that would be great.

I just want to make sure the Fighting Sports headgear isn't significantly bigger than the Fight Gear facesaver, protects my nose a bit better, and has slightly softer padding.

im curious as to what you find...im looking into a facesaver headgear myself

Why not just get the cleto reyes one??

I'm really trying to only use headgear with an eardrum guard, which the Cleto Reyes does not have. Additionally, the Reyes headgear is a minimum $130 purchase from what I've found, which is much more than the two other headgears I'm considering.

I'm curious about what sherdog thinks about Fighting Sports in general.

Especially these:

If they made a decent Winning fg5000 clone for under fucking $450 (shipping included), we'd have a lot more happiness in this world.

Seriously! The Winning FG-5000 is what I really want, but $450 is just way way too much for me to spend on a headgear right now. And please don't anybody come back with "you cannot out a price on the protection of your brain". Hopefully someone can give me a positive review of the Fighting Sports Headgear.

Oh man, that would be perfect! Has anyone actually used one of these? I noticed they have steel bars...are they going to be really heavy? Anyone ordered off that site either...looks kinda sketchy.

The hell? 40 bucks? Regardless of overall brand integrity, I've always felt that headgear around that price range was horrible.

Wish I knew what the hell the reviews meant!
"It looks cool, has been firmly made. However, I feel the leather because the leather rustling. I found one that is not hard to bite the throat Agoberuto Velcro also. If the mass or light spar."

Someone post some reviews on the Bodymakers, STAT!

It seems the Rakuten site gets auto-translated from Japanese, which explains why everything reads like it was written by an eight year-old.

?????
They sure don't seem like a small company. Used to make gloves for DEEP and Pancrase too, I believe? They seem to cover an even wider variety of sports-related gear than Adidas!

And this fg2900 clone is frickin' $20, for crying out loud.

They have 4 versions of the fg2900 clone and fg5000 clone, each.
This one, for example, is the most expensive at around $85, and it looks like the cheek protectors won't fall on your nose like the one above.

Can't really figure out the differences between the 4 face-bar headgears, though!

Alright, so the customer review on Rakuten for the HG10 (the $30 face-bar headgear), and the guy gave it 3/5 stars, complaining about the feel of the leather, the narrow fit, the type of velcro that digs into the neck.

No mention at all about the actual protective value of the headgear, but he says he recommends it for Mass (Masu? those back-and-forth "you hit me, then I"ll hit you" drills, right?) and light sparring only....

EDIT:
Reading it over, I think he actually means that the velcro won't dig into your neck as long as you keep it down to Masu or light sparring.

Damage to my wallet is bad enough, but damage to my brain would be even worse!

If only I could find some other reviews for these damn things...

As far as I've read the top picture you have is synthetic leather and the bottom picture is actual leather.

With the facebar types there is one with synthetic leather and lace closure in the back in solid colors. Then the newer one with the different color trim and a velcro strap closure in the back. Then there is the one that is real leather and lace closure.

You can read about the different types here if you use a translator. I used googlechrome's.

So, who is going to take one for the team? :icon_chee

Im done. I just dropped 200.00 on gloves in the last week. Besides, I already own a FG-5000.

Ideally we would need someone who has the FG-5000 already. That way they can compare the two.
