For those of you that have fight pass;
There is a new 30 min documentary about Bruce Buffer and how he got into the business of announcing UFC events.
Both him and his brother are interviewed in it as well as Dana White and Trigg when they go over the infamous elevator fight.
Things that I didnt really know that I learned from this episode about Buffer;
1 - Bruce didnt actually meet his brother until his was 28. His dad had a child (Michael) with a woman who he seperated with after WW2 when Michael was 11 months old and mike grew up in adoption. Bruce & his dad reconnected with Michael after Bruce inquired about him after seeing him announcing on TV.
2) Bruce became Michael's manager and helped solidify the catch phrase "let's get ready to rumble" and got Michael alot of lucrative deals around the phrase including the video game Ready2Rumble. There are people who estimate that Bruce and Michael made 400 million together from this partnership.
3) Bruce started announcing UFC instead of Michael after a conflict of interest arose with Michael's wrestling contracts. Bruce got Michael the UFC gig and then Bruce ended up taking the gig with Mike's approval.
Those 3 were the most interesting to me, I didn't realize Bruce was so involved with Mike's career as an announcer.
The episode also details the elevator fight from Bruce, Dana, and Triggs perspectives. Funny story all around that I'm sure you've all heard many times but still interesting. In the show it seems Bruce exaggerates his part in the fight while Trigg tells it for how it actually went down. Either way I think this really made Dana respect Buffer and might have a part in his longevity in the business.
Finally, Buffer comes across as a solid dude. I havent heard him speak so much before this so that was nice to see. He doesnt come across as an arrogant dickhead.
Either way, solid documentary style episode and if you have access to fightpass then check it out. It's a high quality production too.
