Fig vs. Moreno-Draw

Going in I didn't have an affinity for either fighter(filthy casual, I know). I just thought both had some questions that needed answering, which I feel they both did. So, I sure as hell do now!

WAR BOTH OF THESE MF's!!!

By round 3 I was already set on a rematch, and if you're a fan, you were too. I think we all knew it was gonna be close with that point taken away.

That said, somewhere in the second round I thought the commentators were starting to become biased in favor of Moreno. And found myself disagreeing with the their scoring.

It was such a great fight, that I'm fine being wrong in my assessment. And am ok with the "draw" because it pretty damn well guarantees us another scrap between these beasts!

I saw the rounds like this-

1) 10-9 Fig
2) 10-9 Fig
3) Even
4) 10-9 Moreno
5) 10-9 Fig

Anyone else see the rounds differently than the judges/commentators?

3,4 + point for Moreno.

Pretty clear draw in my eyes. I don't see how you give Figgy the third round, he got outstruck, hurt, and outwrestled as well.

But I don't see how you give Moreno the second either, he got hurt, and outstruck.

I scored it the same. I agree with TS, the Commentators were awful. Moreno won 3, 4. Give him 1 point for the nut shot and you have a draw. I'm surprised the ring side judges got it correct. Moreno has one of the best chins I have seen in awhile.

They were awful. I don't get how incompetent you have to be to give Moreno the fifth and the second, but not the third.

Round 1 and 5 were the champs

The rest was Moreno...he answered ever offering figgy gave in the second and landed two takedowns ...this is MMA not boxing moreno was the better mix martial artist IMO..moreno had clean counters and close headkicks and never faded all fight figgy however needed to punt moreno in the nads to breathe

The judge who scored the fight for Figuerdo scored it the same way you did. All three of the judges scored the third round 9-9, which I disagree with personally. ONe jsuge gave Moreno the fourth and fifth, and the third judge gave Moreno the second and fourth.

Overall I thought Fig had an edge in the striking. What cost him the win was the point deduction, and Moreno's grappling might have factored in some of the judges decisions as well.

None of the judges gave moreno round 3.

Judges cards were all over the place, one of them gave Moreno the 5th...Having said that, 47-47 is a fair outcome, even when i had Moreno winning 2,3,4 rounds, not a robbery by any means, but him leaving empty handed after that war still feels like a loss even if officially a draw, great fight, FOTY candidate for sure.

Moreno should have won it, for me. But I wasn't angry at the draw really, it was close and excellent fight too.

This was how I scored it too... initially thought 10-9 for the 3rd round was more reasonable but I felt he juuuuuust did enough to win the round so... 10-8 coz of the nutshot
