If Fedor Emelianenko and Sergei Kharitonov had fought back and PRIDE and as of today who would win this fight and why? In my opinion I think Fedor would win today and back in PRIDE because of Fedor's speed and striking where he could outstrike Sergei in the stand up, and on the ground Fedor would have a much bigger advantage based on Sergei's current ground game. Back in PRIDE the grappling would have been much closer as Sergei used to have a solid ground game. In some ways I think today Sergei would be a more dangerous fight for Fedor if he stood with him, but at the same I feel he would have a better chance of finishing Sergei on the ground.

PRIDE: Fedor by TKO
Today: Fedor by Submission

Sergei was a beast back in Pride. He had one of the best hands, as well as fluid movement and agility. This fight would have been a real war. Fedor on the other hand was invincible. I pick pride Fedor over any heavyweight known on Earth.

Prime Fedor by decision... He wasn't stopping, or submitting prime Kharitonov.

Yes he could've. His brother did.

Kharitonov was an animal, but the gap in reflexes and physical speed would've been capitalized on at every opportunity. At that time, Sergei was a little too headstrong and less technical.

While it's possible he would've made it to a decision, I think he would've suffered a horrible beating if he did.

Fedor submission. Would've been a great fight while it lasted though. Sergei's fight with Big Nog was awesome!

Wasn't Fedor basically Kharitonov's grappling coach for a while when they trained together? Fedor by submission back in Pride imo.

Kharitonov got TKO'd by Fedor's brother, who wasn't even half the fighter Fedor was.

To be fair though he came very close to TKOing him first.

If the fight happened around 2003-06 my guess would be either Fedor by decision or TKO on the ground, Sergei had an excellent grappling game at that point(Neither Nog or Werdum could get close to a sub on him) but I think Fedor's GnP would have been too much.

No, they are trained in Russian Top Team together, and their coaches was Volk Han, Ilyukhin, Labasanov and others. But then Fedor left RTT and they are became enemies. Sergei calls out Fedor in many interviews, and PRIDE will make fight Alex vs Sergei, if Kharitonov wins, his fight with Fedor will make happend soon, but...

yeah, much as I support Sergei always, he would have been blasted out of there

Another thing about that fight that help lead to the finish is Sergei was taunting and then Alex countered him while he was doing it leading to him being rocked then going for the takedown. Who knows what would have happened had he not done that, but the way the fight was looking Alex was beating him to the punch throughout most of the fight.

i envision kharitonov curled up in a ball and fedor standing over him wailing at him from all angles and the ref jumping in, then fedor pulls kharitonov up and hugs him, gives him a kind of gay look and kisses him
