I'm looking for a good headgear for boxing class. I work in sales and need something that is going to keep me from getting cuts, black eyes, etc. I've had my eye on the Everlast Safemax Headgear that is 129.99. Has anyone tried this or a comparable headgear? Also, for some reason, everywhere I have looked is sold out...

the everlast safemax II is good. i got mine direct from the everlast website.

Well, the best facebar headgear (from reviews i've read) is the Winning FG-5000. That headgear is what a lot of pro boxers use since they cannot afford to get any cuts/injuries. Its got a huge price tag though, $370.00 not including shipping from japan.

Here is a video review

And here is Winning's site - Welcome to Winning U.S.A.

Winning FG 5000 if you can afford it.

The Everlast is pretty dense, doesn't feel too comfortable. The quality ain't that great either and the bar is protecting more your mouth instead of your nose.

Thanks for the information. So in your experience, has your nose gotten pretty busted up? I work in a senior community and can't really afford to have nicks. Also, we are all novice boxers as of right now, I don't have to worry about lots of huge blows coming my way...

You may want to check out the new model FightGear has out. They make pretty good headgear, but reviews on it are few, because it is still pretty new.

FightGear Face Save Headgear - Large/XL-ringside.com

Ps. Even though the link says L/XL, they are also available in S/M. I think if you click the "additional images", it will show the back view.

Depends what type of gloves you're wearing. Smaller gloves might be able to get through (MMA type gloves or maybe even some 10 oz gloves but it's not that likely) and make contact with your nose. But if they're wearing bigger gloves I doubt you'd have to worry about your nose.

I liked the older version of the fightgear facebar. I've heard good reviews on the Reyes face bar to. Depending on how much you're willing to pay I'd get one of those two. For the ultimate protection the FG 5000 is boss.
