Here's my challenge:

Post the 10 best GIFs / photos that you can find to illustrate defining movements in each step of MMA evolution.

I would assume most people will start with Royce showing the world how BJJ is very effective. For this reason, most would consider Royce the father of MMA BJJ. That being said, show (using GIFs / photos) who you consider the other influential pioneers of MMA to be. Be creative and use good quality photos or GIFs.

I attempted this and failed. I'm way to ADD to focus on a project like this.

Any takers?

I dont' make GIF's but I'll contribute my thoughts to the way the order should go...

Royce
Coleman/Severn (Elite wrestlers learn submission defense... sort of)
Tito (High level athleticism becomes more prevalent and dominant, weight cutting begins)
Chuck & Wanderlei (Sprawl and Brawl, keep it on the feet and out-strike the wrestlers)
Rampage (Sprawl with super refined, crisp boxing)
Jon Jones (Pinnacle of MMA)

the defining moment is when fighters realized they can win with points/thread

So in other words, you love the LHW division?

What about the evolution of striking? Your evolution only emphasizes wrestle-boxers.

Idk if mine are the best but I do feel they do show the evolution of the sport.

when Condit fight Nick Diaz, that points the evolution when everyone realizes that you can win a fight being a pussy, running and using baby low kicks

MMA all leads to this. This is the end. MMA can never get any more technical nor brutal as this

take jones out and add Anderson or GSP and i fully agree. Jones hasnt been taken down, being on his back could be his weakness we dont know, anderson can be taken down and still submit ppl, as well as sprawl and brawl and the next level of striking

afm171, I like your take on the subject. I'd like to see you fill-in the space between Bonnar vs Griffin and Rousey. Maybe a 9.1, 9.2, etc. I'm sure you'll put Kimbo in there somewhere.

great job, though it seemed you were burdened by only having 10 to pick from.
8-10 is when there was a TON of evolution skills wise.
I enjoyed it though.

LOL this thread has no place for Kimbo!
I was thinking something along the lines of wrestling/GNP with Ortiz-Coleman, then Sprawling and strikers beating wrestlers - Liddell, Crocop,
then everything coming together - Fedor, GSP, Jones, Cain,
