Everlast heavybag stand..?

I have that stand and its good, It serves me well, I have a 100lb thai bag on it. I dont know about that bodysnatcher bag thing, looks sort of lame to me.

In my opinion Freestanding bags are good for kicking, horrible for boxing. Whilst, the standard heavy bag hangers are to short for most people. The bottom of the four foot bag should be waist level and kicking a six foot bag can be precarious.

There two sure fire freestanding heavy bag stands, however, they will run $800 and up. There is an option I will be trying out in a few months in my friends backyard that has promise.

Yeah I already have the bodysnatcher bag and a heavy bag stand,However the stand is only rated to hold a 70lb bag max.

I was thinking of getting the everlast one as this is supposed to take a 100lb bag,But I don't really want to get it if I can use my bodysnatcher bag on it also.

I have a century hanger that looks identical that I feel I could fit your bag on.
Also, I would give that hanger to the first person to my house haha

I got the everlast stand,Don't really like it so will just continue to use my other stand.

I was quite pleased by how sturdy the stand was and can see why it would hold a 100lb bag no problem,However i don't like the way the bag bumps the supports when you punch it,Also i feel my movment around the bag is very restricted.

My other stand allows the bag to swing much more freely and allows about 110 degrees of movment around the stand,It's a shame it will only take a 30kg bag,But overall i think it's better.

The one to be aware is if you haven't got someone to hold the bag they move around a lot unless you put a load of weights on the base

I had 3 bags of sand at the bottom holding it down,I have weight plates also but didn't want to use them as i felt that they would only get in the way and futher limit my movment around the bag.

I. Just have a 100 lb heavy bag holding mine down. It came free with the stand it's that nevatear shit. Works great as a stand holder

Do you find 100lb about the right amount of weight to hold it down..?

I see you took the weight plate holders off the front,Makes sense no point having them on if you are not using them,Just something to trip over.

I may have to use the everlast stand afterall,I over tightened some of the bolts on my York stand and have stripped the threads on them and now I can't loosen or tighten them and the stand is quite wobbly.
Hopefully I can buy some replacments from a diy store,Getting them off might be a problem though.

You need to modify the Everlast stand in order for it to be really good.

I made a lot of mods to mine, I have the combo speed bag platform with heavy bag stand. BUt yeah since I got the crappy ass nevatear bag I just stuck it at the bottom. Stand does NOT move.

The speed bag platform same thing I had to mod it. But doesn't sound like you have that part.

What other mods did you make to the heavybag part..?

No I just have the heavybag one,I wish I could do something to give the bag more movment as I feel the supports really get in the way.

when you are training heavy bag, you need to train power and technique, the double end bag is for movement.

This is a common misconception, I mean people always want full 360 range of movement.

Look at mayweather he pretty much stands in 1 spot, work angles yes. But full range of movement no. That's another bags purpose. Heavy bag is about power, technique, angles, and heavy inside fighting.

Different coaches will train you differently also. Not saying im right but every gym ive been too I have yet to find a TRUE 360 heavy bag.

GB shed some light on this? I know you rely on a lot of movement. You don't use the heavy bag for movement do you? I fight in the inside, im short so I do different stations to work on footwork.

Shadowboxing w/ mirror, Mitts, Shadow boxing in the ring, DE Bag, Sparring.

Even fight night 4 teaches you this!

I see what your saying,I think the heavy bag is a versatile piece of equipment and can be used to work on many different things.

But generally i want to box the bag like i would an opponent therefor i prefer some movment/swing of the bag to be able to work basic defensive moves such as side stepping, pivoting,Slipping and weaving ect:

Why don't use a maize or de bag for those I mean u should be pivoting on the heavy bag anyhow

Yes i use the de bag for that also,But i don't have one at home at the moment only when i go to the gym.

I was wondering what other modifications you made to your stand,With the heavybag part..?

I changed the way the chain dangles because it was too low I like my bag to sit high.

Other than that, that's it

Any ideas how to get a bolt/nut off that has a stripped thread..? It won't loosen or tighten,Just keeps spinning round..

I think i might have over tightened it and stripped the thread..

Might have to hacksaw it off and get new ones.

Sorry don't have a camera to take a pic,I doubt you would be able to tell anything from a picture though.

I think it was probably my own fault for using a socket wrench to tighten it,I should have just used the tools that came with it.

Might be a hacksaw job to get it off,I guess I could keep using it in the meantime it's a bit wobbly but shouldn't fall down or anything,At least until i can get some replacements,I'm guessing they will be a fairly standard size.
