Media darling and fan favorite coach / manager / promoter Fernand Lopez shares his thoughts with Brett Okamoto ahead of the big Heavyweight showdown.

GOAT !

Everything he touches transforms into heavyweight champion. That's like a less useful version of midas, especially when you're about to wipe and other things

These guys need to start bringing interpreters to these interviews. Their accents are way to heavy to understand.

I think he was really awkward there, he seemed more easy to understand in the DC interview. Then yeah, it's easier for me because I'm also french, and everyone here has the same stupid accent when talking English ; but for Ciryl I legit think that it would be better if, for real interviews, they just let him speak French and then subtitle him.

Except Alan Baudot.

Haha right.
All in all, Fernand's behaviour with media is quite bad, but he does seem to have some coaching qualities. DC (I think) said that he was lucky that Gane and Ngannou set foot on his gym, and this is oh so true, but he's also probably an OK coach. Also, it seems that neither of them wanted to do MMA initially, he had to push for them to actually change their mind.

I don't really like his personality, but I still believe he is a brilliant coach (and manager). He did win the lottery with Gane and Ngannou but coached them very well. Same for Imavov.

I haven't listened to a lot of his interviews, so maybe it was this one particular interaction. Although, lopez was born in Cameroon and didn't emigrate to France until he was almost 20, and to me his accent sounds more Cameroonian than French. Even a really thick French accent when someone is speaking English is easier to understand for me, but I like the way that accent rolls off the tongue, so I'm biased, lol.

This dude is getting more attention than Francis and Cyril. Smh.

Naganu the POS will get the beating of his life for his betrayal of Fernand. Such Insolence.

War Gane!

Why so much hostility towards Ngannou? Is he that bad of a guy?
I was there when Francis fought Lewis.....Was so excited for that matchup....Francis sucks.
At least Lewis tried to do something, even though he had a bad back.

Tbh I think both Francis and Fernand are scummy. Hope Gane KO's Francis and then drops Fernand (ideally both physically with a punch, and as a coach).

Why are french black dudes so good at hw, wow
Haha.
Apparently, the most popular fighters here are Rinner (first by a wide margin), then Gane and Yoka. Strange phenomenon lol

And what about Francis ? When he speaks French, he has a VERY thick Cameroonian accent (but we're quite used to it in France, for historical reasons...) but I think his English is quite good.

Fernand is a mediocre coach and the beneficiary of Mma being illegal in France so top guys had no where to train. Since Francis moved abroad to train he’s become a completely different animal

he's easier to understand than Lopez.

The guy who “leaked” the sparring footage of Ngannou and Gane. This guy is obviously very butthurt that one of his cash cows left his gym and is trying to undermine Ngannou any way possible.

On the other hand, Gane has no hard feelings and is treating the whole situation with class and respect.

I'm seeing more of Lopez and less of Gane lol.
