Apparently martial artist turned actor Ernie Reyes, Jr. from Sidekicks, Red Sonja, Teenage Mutant Ninja 2, Surf Ninjas and The Rundown suffered kidney failure and is now on dialysis three times a week.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise money for a kidney transplant:

Met the dude at San Diego Comic-Con last year and he was super cool. Hope he recovers and goes back to high kicking and "eee-yah" kiai's.

Doesn't he own a successful chain of martial arts studios? It just seems like he has more money than anyone who would be donating

Hope he's able to scrape up the $ for a kidney

This was one of my favorite scenes as a kid

Wanted to be just like him.

It was because of this guy that I learned how to kip. I only met one other guy in my life who I witnessed do it in person at 6'5" or taller.

I wonder why US-based Filipino news reporters haven't gotten in touch with him or his family yet.

I would if I had the money, only because I know how terrible it is. Both parents were on dialysis(mom passed last year)and my dad will have to be on it until he dies. He feels like absolute shit afterwards.

With or without hands?

I fucking loved surf ninjas.

With or without hands?
We could both do either way. Once I got it down without hands it wasn't long before it was actually easier to do it that way.

Maybe I'm a heartless bastard but it really annoys me when donations are sought for people who should have money if they managed it properly.

When I saw him kicking ass in the Last Dragon as a kid around the same age, it was one of the reasons I picked up Martial arts

I know he's tight with Scott Coker, because Ernies Dad owned West Coast Martial Arts, where Coker came up as a competitor. Reyes even fought in SF when it was Kickboxing and not just MMA, so maybe Bellator could help him out a bit.

I actually used to be aquantances with him back in the day. Real nice guy. Had the fastest hardest kicks i'd ever seen in person. Damn, hope he recovers.

$27,000 bucks raised in 3 days. Nice job internet! If people will cough up $55 grand for a kid making potato salad, we can get Ernie a new kidney easy!

I think it's his dad (Ernie Reyes Sr.) that owns those schools. Pretty sure Ernie Jr. would teach here and there, not sure if he owned any of them though. He tried being an actor. Didn't really see him in anything after the run down. Tried kick boxing, I think he only had a couple of fights. Tried being a rapper (that did not go well).

In his younger years he was an athletic freak.

Will always enjoy Surf Ninjas. Kwan Su dudes!

ouch kidney disease is no joke, i wish him all the best. dialysis is a hard thing to go through every week let alone multiple times, i knew a good man who has to go through dialysis twice a week and the change from before and after was startling.

Just donated $5.00. First one of these I actually ever donated to.

I donated on the first day, hoping for the best.
