Isn't this the fucking group that tons of people use to conduct credit checks?

Jesus Christ.

Do we have any smart business people here? @JonesBones maybe?

Do companies write fines like these into their little black budget reports? Surely deep down they gotta know this is coming. Maybe only the top guys know but someone, nonetheless.

You are supposed to have it in your finiancial reports.

That reminds me of a (now illegal) accounting trick called springboarding. You would write down an expense for a future product a little at a time so you didnt have to report it. Then when the big expense happened, it was already accounted for so you didnt have to tell anyone.

it's like orange juice. it's good for everybody now

I look forward to it being negotiated down and then forgotten entirely 5 years from now.

I don't like that they're making victims have to jump through hoops to get paid. Equifax should pay everyone whose data was compromised. Period.

That's not what's concerning.

what's concerning is this part :

The hackers involved in the episode have never been identified.

So somewhere out there, people's SS #'s and other info are being sold and used.

Credit cards can be stopped and replaced but Social Security Numbers cannot and are a bit more of a hassle to change (to say the least) : https://www.tomsguide.com/us/what-to-do-ssn-stolen,news-18742.html

Yeah, it sucks when MAGA includes severely restricting consumer protections and severely easing financial regulation.

You really believe they're the cause of the Hackers stealing info?

'Cause that's the bigger problem here and not whether the victims get paid or not.

Those whom have their SS#'s stolen are in deep shit right now, as it's a pain in the ass to change one's Social Security number. (And theTS wants to talk about "jumping through hoops"? Try changing your SS#....yikes!)

Russia just practicing for the election... right?

Your mom forgot to tell you to take your med’s.

A. The Trump admin has done absolutely nothing to shore our election systems up. In fact, the admin and the GOP in the Senate have done away with fair minded reform legislation

B. The Equifax breach took place under Trump's admin, which then made it impossible for them to be sued by general consumers, and began a wholesale dismantling of consumer protections and financial industry regulation

You guys are the ones screaming about Trump being a great dealmaker, and you don't give a shit that the deals are with the corporations and the billionaires. You need the meds.
