Alright guys bear with me as this is my first gi review in a couple years. ill start off with some specs:
I'm 5'9" 175lbs and i went with an a2 as is the standard for me for every gi brand with the exception of gameness which i go with a3 and shrink down. with the oss 1.0 i had to do a little bit of high heat shrinking as well..overall the gis shrank about an inch at the sleeves so not to extreme. out of the box as far as sizing and cut goes id compare the 1.0 with similar pakistan made competition cut a2 pearl weave gis ex. shoyoroll, ouano, tatami.
details from the website OSSCLOTHING.COM as well as size chart pics courtesy of the website and local review legend Meerkatsu:
"OSS Kimono V 1.o the Original! After 9 months of testing and a lot of hard work we are pleased to announce the release of our first Kimono. Made of a beautiful 550 gram pearl weave, the original was designed to be durable enough to handle training and competitions yet comfortable enough that you would want to wear daily.
OSS Kanji embroidered on the sleeves with the OSS logo embroidered on the back. On the right lapel the word persevere is embroidered. This was added to remind us to push our selves just a little further.
The pants are twill with pearl weave gusset. There are 8 belt loops with OSS embroidered Kanji on the right. One the back of the leg is the OSS O with the Kanji Oshi or to push.
This is our first offering into the gi market and I hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!"
The presentation and performance of this gi is right on par with the competitors of similar sizing and cut but where oss shines is in the pricing and customer service department. now pricing isnt exactly an issue for me as a member of the team but still compared to similar gis $135.00 is the best price on the market for what you get. Nick, the president of oss is imo doing everything right as far as customer service goes. he puts the consumer first with affordable pricing and solid communication. plus most importantly you can see it in his work, the guy really is striving for superior products than what is on the market.
on to some pics and details..ill be showing all 3 of the colorways of the oss 1.0 gi as well as the oss koi loose fit rash guard. Ive had the white 1.0 for about 3 months of solid use now and the blue and black for about 2 weeks.
every 1.0 gi comes with a screen printed gi bag:
theyre all holding up well after being thrown in the wash and dryer(which is customary for me) with exception to the screen printing on the blue bag, which is fine cus i never store the blue gi cus im too busy wearing it
