Does anyone know how much an Eosin Panther belt will shrink if washed in cold/air dried? They told me 2-3" but Kataroo says up to 8%. This seems like a big difference.
Thanks.
http://forums.sherdog.com/forums/f12/kataaro-eosin-deluxe-bjj-belt-questions-1899877/index2.html** One thing to note with these belts (Kataaro and Eosin), if you wash and dry your belts, they will shrink over 10%. I did this with my first Kataaro, and I had to give it to a friend, as I couldnt fit into it anymore. With my cheaper belts I washed and threw them on high heat all the time, without any shrinkage at all. **
http://www.eosinpanther.com/bbs/zboard.php?id=faq16. What will happen to my belt if I decide to wash it?
Although, the martial arts tradition dictates that the belt not be washed, we understand that some people will want to wash it to keep it clean. In this case, please remember to order the belt a few inches longer, as the belt will shrink once soaked and washed. Our belt is made with 100% cotton, and as any cotton will, it will shrink.
If you must wash, please do so in a cold or warm water, and use non-bleach/mild detergent.
When drying, never put it in a dryer, but let it hang, air-dry.
This will prevent excessive shrinkage.
I just got my bjj blue belt and went with a Eosin Panther belt. My white belt was roughly 115". Through my research, I saw that eosin was supposed to shrink 10%, I've only had the belt for a month and only wore it once, since it's still hot out we've been doing nogi. I bought it being 130", hoping that it'll shrink that 10% bringing it to 117", a couple inches longer than the belt i'm used to.
So, what happened?
I ordered my belt way too long, but I guess its better to order it longer than shorter, right?
lol @ 90 dollar BJJ belts...
Is the Eosin soft belt noticably thinner than a regular brand black belt?
Do you think it would work with the non-soft model for BJJ? Any one tried and seen if it breaks in nicely or stays forever hard to tie and belt ends standing out like boards?
EosinPanther.com said:"Soft":
Inner webbing is less rigid and more pliable than firm
Has more of a "broken-in" feel
Easier to tie the knot
"Standard/Firm":
Inner webbing is more tightly constructed
Firm but never too stiff to wear comfortably
Breaks in nicely over time
