This year is the year MMA completely sold out to big interests. It was slowly happening ofc for a while but the selloff to Paramount (Trump crony), the ridiculous matchmaking at LW (fight fans know Arman -douche as he may be- is the best after/ together with Ilia and Paddy is a pure laughable cash grab). Gaethje and Usman in title fights is to appease the supreme leader and Volk - Lopes is for the (Mexican) money. I expect more insane matchmaking with undeserved opportunties for Americans (looking at you O'Malley) and 'charismatic' fighters from countries with big markets. Dana buckeling for the supreme leader by doing an outdoor event with only billionaire audiences while the commoners get to watch on big screens outside while they eat cake, and the whole fight year will be messed up because of this nonsense. We commoners are better than this.

The sport has lost it's soul and became a political instrument. Just for once it would be nice if vested interests don't win again. They will though, but I'm out, cancelling my HBO subscription (which in NL gives me access to the events). It's not ony principle, but I'm also just not interested in any of the title fights they have lined up so far. I just want the best to fight the best. I'll miss a few nice non-title fights but so be it.
