Emanuel Steward said recently, in sparring and during in training camp, wlad's opponent had their gloves up .....with 20 oz gloves AND headgear..he said Wlad knocked out 2 sparring partners cold( yes the guys were covering up AND he hit the 20 oz gloves AND headgear and still knocked them out!!)

"that I think you’re going to see a much more aggressive fighter in Wladimir. If this man actually would just operate with close to 80%—he’s only operating with about 60%—he would be the most devastating heavyweight in the history of boxing because I’ve worked with him. Never, ever, ever have I been involved with a fighter who has so much one punch punching power."

Could Wlad be thee hardest one punch hitter of all time?

"Even guys that knock somebody out—they get them hurt, they knock them down, they get them groggy—Wladimir is the only fighter I’ve ever worked with that everything can be normal like a big party—everybody is having champagne, on the floors, in the tuxedos, with the music—and the lights go off completely at one time. I mean it’s not like a gradual dimmer switch. I never saw anyone who knocked out people in a gym when they block punches and he did that about three weeks ago with a sparring partner—two weeks ago, prior to the fight. With a sparring partner he threw a left hook, the sparring partner blocked the punch and with twenty ounce gloves he was still knocked out. He has unbelievable one punch punching power and that’s why maybe he doesn’t put combinations together"

and he says Wlad's power is there in round 12 ...unlike other hard hitters..

“What makes him really special also is he has so much power in the late rounds. A lot of guys, great punchers like (Mike) Tyson, they were great in the early rounds but very seldom in the late rounds. Wladimir has knocked out guys like he did with Chris Byrd, and (Ray) Austin, and Eliseo Castillo—he knocked those guys out early because he threw a punch early, an early power punch. And then he’s had the power to go out after being down three times with Sam Peter and he had him out on his feet in the twelfth round of a very grueling fight with one single punch, a left hook. Then he knocked out Thompson. With Tony Thompson he ran across the ring and threw one straight right hand in the eleventh round and just walked away, and Thompson went down totally finished. Now he knocks out this guy in the twelfth round with ten or twelve seconds left with one punch. To have a fighter that has that kind of devastating one punch clean knockout power is so much stress on the opponent because you’re never safe

Listen IF Wlad ko two top pro sparring partners while they were blocking w/ huge gloves on....and head gear..that is serious man....we use 16 oz and headgear and rarely see big boys go down..and never while they are blocking a punch!

That is unheard of!!! Trust me..unless manny is lying.

Is it really that big of a stretch to say that somebody like Wlad who is 30 lbs bigger, taller, and faster than Foreman was also hits harder than he did?

This is no different than someones mother saying they are not ugly.

hype.

yes cause we see how many first round ko's he has just like tyson or tua.all hype.

Power isn't all about first round knock outs. Steward is talking about single shot power, and there is no denying Wlad has that. His style of fighting is the reason he doesn't rack up ealry round knock outs, not his punching power.

After seeing the glancing blow that hit Chambers, I'm not blown away by that statement. Wlad does fight in a very conservative manner. Especially early in fights.

so you are telling me tyson and tua do not have mass power?they are more compact = mass power.

I'm inclined to say hype.

He should have KO'd at least several opponents with blocked shots by now if that was the case.

I like to think the hardest puncher may have been Marciano. I read something where Ali was asked who punched hardest and apparently he sparred around with Rocky when Rocky was well past his prime. Ali said Rocky was the hardest puncher. Again, I'd personally like to believe that.

LOL. You're not listening. The point is that the style is not conducive to first round knockouts....:icon_neut

I just dont think he has better one punch power then tyson or tua thats all lol.

His fighting style is lead jab right hand usually pawing initially. Eventually wearing his opponent down before letting go of his hands. He doesn't attack in the way that Tyson or Tua did. We simply don't know. What I can say is that based on how Wlad has knocked out opponents, I believe that the guy has some thundering hard punches.

If true that was in the 60ies before Ali faced Frazier, Foreman and Shavers.

Still surprised that Marciano hit harder than Liston according to Ali. Then again, Liston never really landed a hard shot on him.
