Edson Barboza and his chin

How do you guys think it will go for him this Wednesday?

I've been big on Edson even before he made his ufc debut. The kid is ultra talented and a helluva kicker but man that chin coupled with his shaky defense is hurting him big time and has been the reason for some recent losses.

I hope he worked on that and imo should also look to mix in some td's, he's a strong guy so given his shaky chin he might wanna work on some wrestling aswell.

And its a shame too cuz anyone can see the guy is talented but his defense is just horrible.

And cuz he's mainly a pure strikers its a lot more evident.

His talent is definitely insane. More than his striking, I've been impressed with his takedown defense. His striking has improved recently from the Pearson/Njokuani fights to now. But damn that defense/chin

Dunham isn't that good and Barbosa has a significant speed advantage. Barbosa lights him up imo, regardless of his poor defense and chin.

Barboza is the definition of a glass cannon, offensively he's amazing. His defence is porous and he cannot take a punch.

When he's on though....he's ON. I love it when he's on! Very exciting fighter.

Yea his TD defense is a thing of beauty that's why I think it might be a good idea to pick up some wrestling to mix into his game.

Ive also mentioned in the past that he should hook up with Nova uniao and add some of that defense that Aldo has.

Both Aldo and Barboza are built alike obviously Edson a bigger version.

You think Varner is that much faster than Dunham? I agree that Barbosa should win though.

Well Dunham can be overwhelmed with speed , Guillard did it and his chin is pretty bad as well.

His chin is far from average, it's pure china... Bisping is iron chinned in comparison.

The thing that really sucks a bout a bad chin is that no matter how superior you are your opponents always has that punchers chance even if there not huge punchers.

Im hoping Barboza has really tighten up his D tho.

I wouldn't even say his defense is that bad. He just likes leaving himself open to big shots and with a weak ass chin, that's not good. He needs to take a bit more caution and cover that glass.

And try moving his head more cuz he's got good foot movement but his heads always still.

I am reading this thread about this issues. That's why I am discussing here. If there are a bunch of other thread, I don't care only this on is relevant to my conversation.

Barboza's only been hurt by three fighters, two known for their power, one a shot he moved into. The Cerrone and Castillo fights were likely a product of the beating Varner gave him, after that first bad concussion you need a lot of time to recover and your chin won't be the same unless you get that recovery time.
