This movie was recommended to me here years ago and it popped up on Netflix. I watched it and the movie went by pretty fast despite being almost 2 hours. But I don't get it, the father was arrested but Kiril took over and in the end the main character who was
undercover agent takes over as the head of mafia at the end it seems while sitting alone by himself which makes you wonder what happened to Kiril and also the guy that sit him up

Great movie but left a lot of unanswered questions.

Great movie with one of the best fight scenes, Cronenberg movies usually leave a lot of stuff ambiguous or inconclusive, I like it to a point, sometimes you have to draw up too much from your imagination but it feels realistic as opposed to over exposition, like you are looking into a window of real events where its not centered about you understating all the underpinnings.

Based off a graphic novel too.

William Hurt was great, RIP.

Kirill probably goes back to being a homosexual.

There was nothing ambiguous about Viggo's nudity.

The ending was too much real life in a sense that there is no sense of victory and even when the movie ends, life goes on as mundane as possible. But we never found out what happened to the evil barber that set up our main guy and no mention what happened to Kirills father or Kiril himself.

I don’t really mind that they never mention what happened to Kirill. Leaves you wondering what Nikolai did with him. Pretty good movie imho.

I was wondering this myself. Did he kill him off screen or was the ending meant that he somehow calls the shot?

Looking forward to being exiled with first class ticket to Scotland.

You passed the test. You’re straight.

Damn straight!

When this film came out it was in the theatres.. apparently that shower scene caused a lot of ppl to walk out lol

I then went to watch it, loved the movie

It's very common in both books and movies for there to be an open ending, meaning that the reader/viewer is left to draw their own conclusions regarding what happens after the story ends, to imagine the future trajectories of the characters based on clues given about their intentions, personalities, and circumstances. You call it "unanswered questions"; I call it art inspiring imagination and creative thinking.
