What a war. This was probably Hooker's best performance and he lost. Hasn't been the same since.

He won the first two rounds, and if he had had 10 or so more seconds at the end of the 2nd round, he probably would have finished Dustin. He had him hurt bad.

Dustin showed what a dog he is and swept the final 3 rounds, mixing his grappling and striking beautifully. Respect to Dan for making it to the final bell, Dustin beat him up bad. He was so exhausted too, but refused to give in.

great fight... thanks for sharing!

Poirier was rusty and started slow due to a layoff and the hip surgery that caused it. Hooker put it on him those first two rounds. It was a war of attrition and Dustin took over as the fight progressed. This is a really fun, but also brutal fight, that is deserving of a rewatch.

I remember this guy i work with telling me that that fight made him a UFC fan. I know that happens with many people every time there's a great fight, but it was cool to actually hear it in person. Hooker really gave Poirer hell, and Poirer dug deep for his grittiest victory.

Maybe the best fight in the history of the Lightweight Division, absolute classic scrap.

I still remember the video clip of Dan passed out on a stretcher and getting loaded into the ambulance after this fight

I still remember the Barboza vs Hooker beating, doesn't get mentioned enough. One of the worst beatings I've ever seen in MMA along with Matt Brown vs Erick Silva...holy shit those motherfuckers could have died.

Great fight for that actually sir.
It had a lot of great elements in it, vicious striking, back and forth fighting, and coming back from almost certain death to win by Poirier.

The last few body shots Edson put on Hooker were fucking brutal.
He just folded like origami after withstanding an outrageous amount of punishment.

Edson doesn't get enough love around here tbh sir.

Hooker has taken a ton of punishment in his career. He's never been the best of any division he's been in, but he's a solid fighter who has earned respect. He seems like a good guy too, from the interviews I've seen.

Great display of toughness and durability in this fight on both sides. It looks like Hooker may be on a bit of a decline though from accumulated punishment. At his best his chin was ridiculous. He walked through massive shots from Poirier. A guy who was able to rock Holloway many times

I didn't know about Poirier being fresh off a hip surgery and layoff going into that Hooker fight, makes loads more sense.

Even though imo Weili vs Joanna was the fight of the year this was a great war. Does slow down a little at the end but hats off to both these men for shaving years off their life in a 25 minute span for a paycheck , glory and our entertainment.

Hope neither gets serious health problems down the line from all the wars they've been in(just sayin)

This the Barboza and Felder fight beat the prime out of Hooker. 3 career depleting beatings
