Media Dustin Poirier on why he took the BSD fight: “I’m 35 years old now … Let’s see if I still got it”

Do you think Dustin Poirier still got it?

Poirier and Gaethje got all the shit in the world for being 'ducks' and 'rank squatters' yet still ended up giving both BSD and Fiziev their opportunities to legitimize themselves to the casuals and jump up in the rankings. This should happen more often, in every division.

The Frenchman is gonna send poyboy back to the French quarter : badass :

They ended up fgving them opportunities because they got called ducks and rank squatters.

Gaethje didn't initially give Fiziev the shot because he was coming off of surgery. It was on the table for him but he was hurt. Poirier could easily look for a bigger name fight than agree to face BDS. But sure, if you say so...

Seeing Dustin as a slight dog here is weird. The kid's good, but Poirier's done everything in this game. Experience all day.

Yeah, the guys past having to prove anything.to anyone except himself.

I always thought DP was a little one- dimensional with his boxing. He’s got incredible durability but he hasn’t really evolved much (if at all) since his first fight with Gaethje whereas Justin is far more refined now in his approach.

That sais, he’s only lost to the Championship level fighters and will be a formidable test for BSD who should be regarded as the underdog here.

Poirier had exhausted his options of fighting guys with name value and was coming off a KO loss.

Poirier my top 3 fighter of all time.

Love his style and every fight is must watch tv.

BSD matchup is going to be a war on the feet.

Whoever gets clipped is going to sleep or jumped on and subbed.

Fight will not go to decision imo. Should be a 5 rounder in the perfect world.

Nah gotta give Poirier props for taking this fight.

Poirier is one of the biggest names at 155, he's fought and beaten McGregor twice. He's probably the biggest active 155 draw, I'd bet he commands a bigger name value than Islam.

He can easily just sit out and demand higher name value fights.

Are you seriously denying that they were rank squatting? The fact that both of them eventually caved and agreed to fight the young guys just means that their options and leverage diminished over time.

Gaethje was hurt. He would have taken the Fiziev fight sooner if he wasn't. Poirier had names on the docket he could fight for bigger money. The second that was over he gave BDS his shot. He could have pushed for the Holloway rematch at UFC 300. Gaethje could have told the UFC he's waiting for his title shot after the Poirier win.

I know you've got some sense of delusion over there based off of your Volkanovski talk in the other thread but let's just keep it to one thread a day, bud? Lol.
