Yeah, Khabib, Charles, Edgar, etc are all probably above him in the Pantheon of Lightweight Greats, however, as far as striking style dominant Lightweights go Dustin is probably the best ever.

Dude has beaten Max Holloway x2, McGregor x2, Justin Gaethje, Eddie Alvarez, Michael Chandler, & Anthony Pettis, just to name a few.
This dude makes absolute wars with other guys of that ilk and has proven to be the best of them.

He might be the best fighter in UFC history to never hold a legit belt.

Yeah he beat all the best strikers in that division so I don't think it is too controversial. Add McGregor to that list 2x and we can also conclude Dustin is the best boxer. Might be best boxer in UFC currently along with volk.
Oh yeah I don't how I didn't add that

It's Conor McGregor.
He oustruck McGregor 2xs at Lightweight, McGregor's only UFC win at Lightweight is Eddie Alvarez.

Hard to argue that, and he's easy to root for. DP is the man.

Dustin was shooting for TDs in both fights. Tired Conor out with wrestling and threatened with the TD.

In a pure striking fight it could go different.

Conor initiated the takedown exchanges in the second fight. Also kicked the shit out of Conor's leg to immobilize him before KOing him with the hands.

Poirier level changed into a TD 32 seconds into the 2nd fight (1st fight at 155).

Poirier went to grab Conor's leg to fake a TD attempt 34 seconds into the 3rd fight. And he did it again after that. He was using the threat of the takedown to make his striking more effective.

If you think Poirier is a better striker than Conor, then you must think Usman is a better striker than Masvidal.
