Dustin facing Conor at UFC 257 gotta be one of the most important fights for a fighter ever right?

Not only is this an opportunity for Dustin to avenge THE most humiliating loss of his career (first round weird KO vs a guy who talked an immense amount of shit to him), but this could also result in a title fight. If not for a title, the winner gets to fight for a title. A #1 contender bout in a stacked division is huge. Especially in a second run like Dustin.

Oh and Conor is this big star so alot of eyeballs. Without all the things i mentioned before, it would still be a big win for this reason alone.

TLDR: Huge win for Dustin. Care to name other important opportunities for one fighter in UFC/MMA history?

There are big opportunities for individual fighters all the time. TFerg just had a big crossroads fight for him personally. Costa against Izzy was a big opportunity for a guy to blow up. Tit didn’t work out for him.

Stipe against Francis: After Francis sent the Reem to the land of living death, everyone thought he'll do the same to Stipe. The amount of disrespect for Stipe was absurd. That was the fight that made a lot of doubters eat their word and firmly cemented Stipe as a legit HW legend

Serra-GSP 1: thanks to the quirky season 4 of the ultimate fighter, the huge underdog/journeyman Matt Serra had the opportunity of a lifetime to fight for the title (unlike the Michael Jordan of BJJ, Travis Lutter who missed weight in his title shot). Even though he was a gargantuan underdog, he pulled off the biggest upset in UFC history.

Yeah big opportunities come all the time. There's levels of opportunities though. The magnitude of the opportunity Dustin is getting here, with the things i mentioned... It's big.

Rooting for Dustin cause im a sucker of cool stories

Id argue its a bigger fight for Conor than it is Dustin.. Even after Conor smoked Cowboy in 40 seconds theres still tons of fans who doubt his drive these days. Dustin already lost to Conor and can afford to lose to him again. Conor cant really afford to lose to Dustin. If Conor somehow loses to Dustin than his retirement seems far more likely.

The biggest was the first one to me.
If Dustin win this one it will mean nothing except they need a third to complete the trilogy

Honestly more is on the line for Connor. If Connor wins it's like 'well yeah he's Connor already beat Dustin etc' but if Dustin wins, not only is it a great underdog story (not necessarily for us here I think most of us understand how fighting works more or less, almost anyone can beat almost anyone given the right circumstances), but Connor's hype-train in broader sports media gets a bit de-railed. Whether we like it or not the whole Connor McGregor Jake Paul thing is fairly popular outside the MMA fan world.

Wouldn’t Dustin beating Khabib have been the biggest fight/win of his life?

{<huh}
Only argument a Khabib win would be better than a win here, is the title. If this fight does end up being for the title...

Me too, rooting for Dustin for the back story and because Conor fans...

I can’t think of a bigger chance for such a high profile redemption but my memory is shot to shit. So I have to agree, it is huge for Dustin. I hope that doesn’t affect him as last time Conor got in his head, Dustin really needs to believe or he’s fucked. Looking forward to this fight. I do think Conor will win but the upset would please me more.

Lots of big moments. Then again every moment is bigger than the last cuz . . . it has to be right?

Holloway vs dustin felt much more important than this ( for max that is), for me this feels much more like the 2 runners up to khabib fighting for a potentially vacant title.

If Conor loses this fight, he will be fighting guys like Jake Paul next. A win over a tired Cerrone was nice, but not enough to show the real 2 belt champion Conor is back. This fight is the most important fight ever for him. A loss here and no Manny fight, no Mayweather II fight, no UFC title fight. The Conor hype train is totally derailed, it's no mas.

Conor arguably has way more pressure every time he fights, imagine the amount of haters that are just hopeful for you to fail. Dustin gets a payday regardless and he knows he will never be a great champion.

the most humiliating loss of his career is johnson especially with all the shit they talked before hand lol

Ouch... Forgot about the banter between these two before the fight. Interesting how Dustin ended up getting KTFO in the first round in grudge matches.

MJ was a beast.

Maybe but I don’t think so. It’s not a title fight, it’s not to prove who’s the best in the division. Dustin’s legacy is cemented in my opinion though. Love the guy. A truly game fighter who will push himself to his limits to win. If he avenges this loss it does look incredible, but if he loses he’s still accomplished a lot and beaten some elite fighters in a shark tank weight class. Without Khabib no one is fighting to prove they’re the best LW in the world though.
There has certainly been more on the line in terms of legacy, financial, and championship status than this fight.

Not saying it's the best case ever, but Khabib over Conor. All the shit talking and psychotic behavior from Conor only for the good guy to win in the end and send the message to everyone that talking, favoritism, and social media followers means nothing when it comes to someone beating your ass.
