DuPlessis looking to become first African UFC champ

I know it sounds crazy to some people, but he is correct. You can trace heritage or whatever, but man was born in Africa, lives in Africa and breathes that air every day, his connection to Africa is the real thing. Just like Stipe is American and not Crotian in pretty much every sense but heritage. Nothing wrong with what Dricuss said.

Why tho? Is he not correct?

Nah he's right. At least in the sense that the other guys aren't products of African MMA.

Sure, that's correct I suppose lol but the guys don't just cease to be African because they haven't lived there for a long time. Plus I just got a chuckle out of the white guy deciding they're no longer African.

tbf in the case of Frank I think there's more of a case than with Izzy and Kamaru who both moved as kids. Frank at least reached adulthood still living in Africa.

Why tho, do you consider Jon Jones not American because he’s a black guy?

If we use this logic there has never been an American champ since no native guy ever won the title.

He's right though. From his perspective,he should say that shit, instead of allowing himself to be overlooked because of people's preconcieved notions.

I guess some are mad/reluctant to acknowledge the situation, but that isnt his fault or his problem.

I'd say he's the most African of the bunch and I'm not joking or anything. He's white, big fuckin deal. There's black Europeans too.

Doesn't mean the others aren't African but you definitely lose some of your national identity/culture once you leave your native country and become a dual/international citizen. I know that from experience.

Yeah, I don't think he's wrong necessarily, just got a chuckle out of it, and I'm sure some assholes are bound to find a way to be offended by it.

I mean, they were born there and lived at least a few years of their childhood there. Jon was born here, so no I don't consider him an African.

I think we're overthinking this, I just got a laugh from it. I don't particularly disagree with his point.
