Du Plessis out landed Whittaker 62 to 31

Dricus has a weird game but it works for him. People don’t know what to expect when he shows up he’s unpredictable and dynamic

It's interesting because Whittaker historically has better striking defense (by percentage) than Izzy. He's about 60% stiking defense compared to Izzy's 57%. It's less impressive defense when you consider he's been T/KOed by 3 different guys in the UFC.

DDPs power is certainly an X factor, and he has enough technique to hang with a very gifted striker. He was winning the striking battle before Whittaker was on roller skates. The question becomes what happens in round 2 or 3 if Izzy can deal with that power.

It was a huge upset, and while I give Du Plessis respect for beating Bobby Knuckles, I don't think he'll have as much success against Izzy.

I think, along with the power, his style is extremely unique. People aren't ready for it and don't know how to handle it. He is unpredictable in there because he doesn't really fight like anyone else.

I agree. I thought Rob would win, and was surprised.

But, beating Izzy, would be a legit shocker and a huge huge upset. It's a much taller task.

Whittaker was more aggressive in this fight than others too. He has better defense when he's cruising to score points in a decision. Stats are more useful when in context of the style/gameplan guys try to implement. No one gets high striking defense when they are pressuring and going for finish on the feet.

Funniest thing is that his striking look awful. Makes me think of Jake Shields. Still somehow efficient! lol

Not just unique but extremely unique?

Folks thought Pacquiao was just weird an awkward too style wise throwing from weird angles and odd set ups. . Worked okay for him I think .

It's an interesting fight for sure. I couldn't give a shit less about the "beef"

Ddp has impressed the shit out of me several fights in a row, and Izzy has dealt with a guy setting him back and bounced back phenomenally, this should be an awesome fight.

Phenomenal performance by DDP. Never let Whit get comfortable and play his point fighting range game. He went out there and took what was his, definitely impressed.

Watching him crumble Whit was the best performance of the night imo.
