Crime Donald Trump Hush Money Fraud Trial (5/30 Update: Trump Found Guilty on All 34 Felony Charges)

I’d also guess that there’s zero chance for an acquittal, which should tell us something about the strength of the DA’s case. But, yeah, it only takes one. A hung jury is very possible.

My sense is that (assuming a jury of honest people), the closing arguments could make or break this thing. Prosecution needs to show their work on every Cohen claim with the corroborating document and witness testimony, and hammer home the fact the Cohen has already served time for his part. And the last witness called by the defense was a huge help for the prosecution, I think.

Defense needs to create an alternate narrative, which they have not done. I’m not sure poking holes in Cohen’s and Stormy’s testimonies will be enough. They need a plausible story about how it all went down without Trump’s knowledge.

Just my 2 cents, I love this courtroom drama shit.
There is exactly a 0% chance of an acquittal, because Trump did what he's accused of. Most likely it's going to end in a conviction, but there is a decent chance of some zealots causing a hung jury.

It will be hard for the zealots though. Fox News won't be in the room with them, giving them the OK to ignore reality. They won't be able to justify Trump's actions with "TDS!" or some other thought-terminating cliche, like they're used to. They'll be in a room with other adults, who aren't going to want play bullshit games. They've been going through this for weeks. They'll have to explain themselves and justify their positions.

I remember one of the guys said he gets on truth social but he also said he gets on a lot of other apps and news sites.

I had no idea. Seems like a longshot that he frequents TS and isn't a TR7MP supporter. If he ends up being the only holdout I think it's safe to say he lied to get on the jury. And then we'll hear cries of how justice prevailed despite the Lawfare campaign against him.

The one he's most cut and dry guilty of is the docs case, but alas that's the one he has to worry about the least

I think he said he likes to see what other people think.

"the jurors have TDS!"

they've already been crying about the jury, even before any of the jurors got appointed to the panel. so no doubt they'll have that excuse locked and loaded.

in order of strongest to weakest cases against DJT in my humble bunny opinion-

1- GA election interference- I mean for fuck sake he hounded Raffensberger, a low level GOP stalwart who was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Then when he finally got him on the phone they recorded it because they knew he was likely to commit a crime and he committed a crime captured fully for all to hear. Remember these are guys that are still hardcore republicans and even they knew he crossed a line way too far.. But Fani may have fucked this up over a booty call and he may well walk because she is as shitty if not shittier at her job than Trump was at his.

2- The document case- Tapes of him discussing them, pictures of them all over mar a largo etc. All the arrogant fucker had to do was return them when asked,,,,and yet and still here we are waiting for the slow cannon to move it forward, and Trump is busy buying the loyalty of the witnesses that should just tell the truth and get themselves the hell out of the way of the damage he does to people who take bullets for him, Rudy, Cohen, Weisselberg and on and on.

3- Jan 6- People can parse what exact words were said and what their intention were til the cows come home. To me this is simple, he invited them down, knew thery might be violent, whipped them up, pointed them in the direction he wanted them to go, and sat with his thumb up his ass while they assaulted the capitol. He did all this to try to retain power, no other motive at all, Hell they go to court on their charges and swear on a bible they thought this is what he wanted them to do. The absolute worst part of his actions were his inaction.....And please god don't give me "he tweeted" because tweeting isn't leadership in a crisis,,,at best it is ass covering at worst it is cowardice. Note- I think his action leading up to this and on the day of Jan 6 are by far the most damaging thing he has ever done, it is ranked 3rd on the easiest to prove in a court of law scale, not in a what he should be held accountable for scale.

4- NY Fraud trial- from jump people thought bringing these were a legal stretch. It has proven he'll lie to your face about sleeping around with porn stars on his wife, but who didn't already know that. it showed that Cohen is an even worse human being than we thought too. Do I think he did this to make sure he won an election or keep it from his wife? i think he did it for both reasons, but if being slimy was going to put him in jail for a felony that should have happened a long time ago.

That’ll be the defense’s job in summation, to give potential sympathetic jurors a plausible argument. They didn’t make one during the trial, and “Cohen’s a liar” doesn’t work as a justifiable hold out against 11 other jurors by itself, given all the evidence that backs him up. And that Costello debacle, sheesh. What a huge mistake. We’ll see what they can come up with in closing.

Neutral observer here: the Obama drone guy totally won that exchange. You should accept it and give credit where it is due. Unless you are Kevin in that gif in which case, please carry on

So in the jury charge conference was completed on Thursday.
In order to have the business fraud to be charged as a felony:

1) The predicate crime has to be proven in front of the jury.
----
2) The jury does NOT have to agree on what that felony is
---half can perceive Tax fraud, half can perceive election interference.
