I watched the Tito-Liedell conference last night and while it was a shitshow in all respects, I did enjoy the format as it let the personalities of the athletes shine through a little more. No stupid questions from reporters where half the fighters are ignored. Everyone got the chance to take the stage and freestyle it a little bit. You couldnt do this for every show ofc but some of the bigger events i think would really benefit from revising the format .

I prefer the way it is. If you aren't getting any questions during the presser, that's your own fault for not marketing yourself more. Besides, there's interviews with every fighter before and after the fights so everyone gets a platform.

They're fighters. Not everyone went to drama school like Conor. Most would rather train for the performance ahead than sit there for no reason listening to douchebags entertain idiots.

Suit yourself then. This is sports entertainment, just like every other professional sport.

Being Conor isn't the only way to draw attention, but you have to say and do interesting things.

I get it but no martial artist is under the obligation to do so. Its a waste having people on stage that never get asked questions. Not everyone is going to do a song and dance. Surely there is a better way.

Being conor-lite and talking shit about everyone is currently one of the only ways a guy can get any interviews. Kevin lee isn't the character he plays, but he has to play that character so that media will pay attention. If you put a mic on him even previously, i think a lot of people would have supported him... he just wasn't being given that opportunity. Some of it is on the talent, but the ufc can definitely try to do more to give them a better platform to engage with the audience.

Post fight press conferences where everyone was lined up were so much better

We never would've had Bisping taking the piss out of Rockhold after KO'ing him otherwise

I prefer all type of press conferences and activities from the UFC. It's boring between the events. They should do one presser in the fight week for each PPV and big season pressers at least 4 times in a year.

After watching the Tito vs Chuck conference yesterday, the UFC's ones are fine

Needs a burnining cross.

Well its a "press conference", in like, questions from....ehh....the press. UFC is miles ahead of the stupid Boxing format where lots of people (and also fighters) take turns at the mic to give their speech.

UFC >> Boxing, by far.

Tito presser was awful in every way possible, so anything but not that.

No, "sports entertainment" is what organizations that aren't real sports call themselves to make them seem legitimate.

Sure, there are personalities in other professional sports, but they tend to be the exception, and usually fans of the sport put up with it rather than encourage it. Most sports are about sports performance, not sports entertainment. The sport IS the entertainment.

The real issue is how shit the media is compared to other sports. They never ask any interesting or meaningful questions.

I don't care for the boxing format pressers, but it is awkward to see some of the UFC fighters get completely ignored. I kinda feel bad for them actually.

I think it's even worse in ome other sports. In soccer for example it's always the same generic questions such as "What is your assesment of the match today?", "What could your team have done better?", "What does the future hold for your team?", and you get even more generic answers from the players and coaches. But in a sport like soccer, nobody gives a shit about what the players say and do, so it's different.

I like having more fighters up there in a less formal atmosphere. Even if some of the lesser known fighters don't get to speak much it gives them some exposure. Also I understand why they do the post-fight pressers individually but I do miss the old format.
