It seems like every card in the UFC has some stupid injury ruin it. I dont follow other combat sports. Is this normal?

That's one of the reasons why Fußball is still No.1 sport in the world.

Pacquiao fought with an injured shoulder against Floyd. He had the surgery 4 days after the fight.

And its not even close... I love UFC but there is a lot of work that needs to be done to get even close to those most popular sports. You dont have shit like this in them

It does but not like this. In american football if someone's out it's usually overshadowed because they still have a whole team. In combat sports I can't think of many others...or even promotions where this happens as frequently

Not often in boxing
Especially after wiegh in s

No, it's not normal, especially hours before the fight. Suspicious if they knew earlier and kept mum in order to sell more tickets.

This is starting to really get out of hand in terms of these guys getting injured on fight days... Do these kind of pullouts happen in boxing? What is a guy even doing the day before a fight to get a hernia?

But this isnt the only time this happened, there has been way too many times fighters during the week pull out of fights due to odd injuries which somehow never seems to be attributed to the weight cut.

Is this UFC's fault for not having proper rules in place for what to do week of the fight to try to prevent some of these injuries? or is it a commission's fault for not having regulations in place? or fighters and their camps?

I don't, i could be all of them, but this is some crazy shit that i personally don't see in other combat sports on this of a consistent basis. Maybe its just the same few fighters that make us think this is "common" but i don't know, pretty annoyed.

I mean...it should be very easy to see why MMA guys would get injured more than boxers do. Its much harder on the body to train multiple disciplines, esp any kind of grappling, and theres no uniform way to pay the cost to be the BOSS

A big boxing fight never gets cancelled the day of.

Only in the ufc where alotta guys are bitch made

Not true at all.
MMA is very harsh on the entire body.

Laughed at BJJ being combat sport. They had to allow palm strikes to get anyone to tune in.

But no, not as often. When other events are booked months in advance, they end up happening. In boxing they don't do anything but spar 36 minutes. Hard to get hurt going through warm up motions

Moral of story is : kickboxing needs more respect for the remaining men who tread those bloody waters

I say once you make weigh ins, anything that happens from the time you weigh in to the start of the fight, will count as an L if you pull out.

Do you blame the ufc? The commission? Dana? Or fighters and their camps? all of them? I dont know any other combat sports that have this many "day of or week of" pullouts happening on a consistent basis.

I dont even know what policies could be made to help this situation out, i mean an injury is an injury, but at the same time, you go through the entire week with no problems, public workouts, weight cut, and then you find out you have a hernia? What could possibly be done to prevent that?

Seems to be an occurrence thats happening way too often or am i just salty cuz of the current situation?

Also could a mod make a poll for the first part of the paragraph on who people blame for these injuries the most? Thx

It’s mostly the fighters and the camps.

A lot of these issues as we know come down to bad weight cuts. In this case what we are hearing right now is basically out of nowhere he got a bad hernia. Maybe he had a problem and thought he could push through, and possibly changed his mind at the last minute. Who knows?

Liberals.

Men made from sticks and stones are now sewing thread and whipped topping

Where the hell is the alternate for a main event? They need to really do that for every single main event now that has anyone with consistent injury issues.
