Okay obviously I know it doesn’t feel good, but is there a competitive advantage? Does it maybe hinder the mobility of the opponent? I personally feel like Usman does it just to stay on the cage longer without the ref on his back but I wonder if it affects his opponents, maybe even psychologically. I’m kinda hoping there’s someone that’s gotten foot stomped before with some inside knowledge lol.

It hurts but only to a certain degree. No one is getting KOd by or tapping to foot stomps.

If you land coming down on your heel, you can definitely injure or create some minor fractures in the foot. Lots of small bones and ligaments in the foot. Probably largely ineffective though, mostly used to stay busy and maintain the position without ref separation and frustrate opponents into giving you an opening.

If I remember correctly, Matt Serra basically foot stomped his way to a title shot against GSP

maybe in a past life. those that gallop, throat sing their way to an immortal plain. what great punishment the heavens have unleashed upon gaethje!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is central Asia the Russia 2.0 of MMA?

With the ball or flat of the foot it's mostly an annoyance.. and staying busy

Stomping with the heel can absolutely break toes and feet ..or cause swelling and mobility issues when arching or flexing the foot could affect grappling or kicking ..

So it really depends how you want to foot stomp

a man falls seven times, but rises eight. the sparrow, small that it may be, protects its nest. we are witnessing what has forever echoed true throughout history. kazahkstan has some fucking bangers. and we are blessed to witness it's rise again.

Not just Kazakhstan, Tajikistan has some really good fighters on the rise, Nurullo they signed and Samandar they are about to and there's several others. Kyrgyzstan is doing surprisingly well too. Brother, they all galloped upon the steppes, they all share the blood of the Khans, the Persians, the Huns and the Soviets. Eventually I suspect we will even see Uzbekistan become a real force in MMA.

Foot stomps hurt. End of, completely throws off your game too.
