You think DC beats him? Considering he doesn't have to drain himself at all.

Who knows? Jones is a bad match up for DC at any weight. The reach discrepancy and ability to wrestle while also being a better kicker is a nightmare for someone like DC. With that said DC was a different animal at HW because I believe not having to cut weight at that age brought the best out of him. Jones was most definitely a beneficiary of that weight cut.

Only in the alternate dimension where haters dreams take place.

The idea a 5 ft 11 guy is drained at 205 is laughable to me. Still remember people telling me DC was risking his life going to 205 cause he "big boned". Yes DC was worse because he was mobile. No he looked worse because his opponents were mobile. It was subtraction by addition. DC was not better at HW his opponents were worse.

This is pretty well put. It really is an alternative dimension that haters establish. The dimension in which Jones lost several fights (that he actually won), and - taking it to the next level - the dimension in which he would have lost several fights that didn't happen.

Context matters here. This was before Jon commit to gain Heavyweight frame himself. He walked around 220s when he is fighting at 205.

When the interview was taken, it was after Derick Lewis fight where DC weighed 256. Jon is being real and not faking like most champs would do even when they avoid challenges.

Jones didn't sound confident.

“I’m a realist,” Jones said. “Daniel Cormier is a special athlete and anyone can be beat. I think my greatest chance of losing would be to a guy like Daniel Cormier. We’d be giving him a power and strength advantage over me; it just doesn’t make sense.

“Right now, I make light heavyweight very easily, and it would just make no sense to fight a guy who, I think, technically (is) on your level and to give him a size advantage. I’m not doing it. I’m sure my fans don’t like to hear me talk like that, but that’s just me being a realist – and being respectful of Daniel’s abilities.”

It makes no sense that DC would perform a lot better against Jones at HW. Results would have been the same.

DC 100% could have been a MW with a right diet. Dude couldn't lay off the fried chicken.

Absolutely not. This was just another example of the delusional "X fighter just had a good performance and has thus radically improved all of a sudden" line of thinking.

No one thought DC was "depleted" at 205 (he only had 1 loss at 205 FFS) but as soon as he went back to HW and beat Stipe (who always had a questionable chin), suddenly the weight class was the issue. Sorry but I'm not buying it.

DC's greatest strength was completely nullified by Jones. If DC had started MMA at a younger age, maybe it could have been different but he did not suddenly get leaps and bounds better in his late 30s.

Obviously yes. If Jones believed he could beat DC at hw he would have tried to do it.

I don't think Jones is a natural hw. I don't think bulked up slow Jones could wrestle w DC at hw

Well we have only seen Jones fight for about 1:30 minutes at HW, so it's a little tough to say how he would do. That said, and I have said it many times before, I will never pick against Jones until I actually see him really get beaten. He has been in close fights that could have gone against him, but nobody has ever really beat him up. The first Gus fight is probably the most damage he's taken, but he dug deep and won the championship rounds to pull it out. The guy knows how to win, period! Jones over Dc at any weight.

Seeing how bad Jones looks with the added weight, it makes sense why he wouldn't fight DC at HW, instead only cherry picking a one dimensional French Kickboxer and a relic Stipe.

People used to say Jones was afraid of DC at HW. Even if we got that instead of DC/Stipe, I don't think DC does better. Jones is a powerhouse at HW more than people want to give credit for. DC also has a mental block when it comes to Jones, he's just one of those guys that is so in his head he probably can't mentally win. Also if old Stipe can piece away DC like that, Jones would do it even easier at HW.

jones at 220 lbs at HW still beats 240 plus lbs dc lmfao

they fought at LHW dc had the weight advantage against skinny jones

having the weight advantage he still cant outwrestle jones

i say no
jones is a better striker than him any weight
