I used to use it a lot when I wrestled to pin; and always think about it when i roll. Theoretically, it would work as a pain submission like the twister which is also a wrestling maneuver. It seems like a good deal if you have a hook in and you want to hit a move theyre not expecting.

Would it work on an extremely flexible jj guy? I feel like the extension i can get is greater than what someones legs could do; just never heard of the move used in jiu jitsu

EDIT just saw magalhaes pull it off

I use the Electric Chair a lot, not so much the Banana Split. It's not a pain submission if they're inflexible; it can seriously damage the adductors and the knee.

i see. i usually find myself on top when im rolling live and my bottom game is very very weak.

do you know if people also use body scissors to sub people? i used to run that wrestling too.... man they hurt

Not really, no. I've seen guys scissor around the neck (usually in conjunction with an armbar) and get the choke, but not the body.

just youtubed it; looks like its prevalent among pro wrestlers....... yay

Oh, I should also add if you put the lockdown on the far leg it can also turn into a calf squeeze, which again is not "just pain" unless you like internal muscular bruising.

tap, snap, or nap... or bruise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had my hamstring torn with this move and it put me out 4.5 months. If someone who actually knows what the fuck they are doing throws it on you, it isnt a funny little pain move.

Well yea, but ive never and will never just crank it all the way without notice; sorry for the understatement of calling it a pain move but you can definitely tear something in the lower back with a twister as well

Sharp pain is indicative of tearing. That's the whole point, your body's telling you something dangerous is happening.

Whether you're building muscle through contraction, or making it longer through stretching, tearing is happening at the microscopic level. Instead of these tiny tears closing, new cells are made to fill in the gaps, thus 'building' or 'lengthening'. Problems occur when these tears become excessive.

I use it all the time. My rear naked choke has always sucked and the leg locks from the modified back mount/truck are easy to get.

Especially in competition, because most people don't have great defense. I've competed again multiple brown belts who had pretty much no clue how to defend it.

You can also switch to a banana split or a calf crank.
The calf cranks are so easy to get.

Sure.

Another nice variation is letting go of the lockdown and using the leg that isn't around his leg to push on your opponent's ankle, which puts even more pressure on him.
