I made this post becuz I was thinking about buying a great Hayabusa Mizuchi short sleeve white rashie.

But I often hear some people talk about how some white rashies start to look a little...uh...less white or brown or just plain dirty after a while. I have never really bought a white rashie so I figured I'd check with people who own white rashies or known others who do and what your take on it was.

If it did lose that nice white edge, could it be that people came home and didn't wash it right away or some other mistake? Or is there no hope even with good habits? I roll quite a bit and I would hope after a year or at least a few months, with good washing it would still be solid.

Thanks for the help.

I have had a white hayabusa rash guard for over a year and it is still as white as the day I got it. When washing it with all my gear I put in one of those colour catcher sheets just incase but it has been fine. This is the best white rash guard I have as it keep its colour and does not go see-through when you are training.

How "not see-through" is it? I have fairly light skin and a black ink tattoo on my shoulder, will you be able to see it through the Hayabusa after it gets wet?

They use a slightly thicker material so it does not go see through at all so you will be fine with your tattoo not showing :)

My white Busas picked up some colour from my handwraps at the wrists, but beyond that, have yet to see it pick up colours from the wash.

Someone bled all over my Hayabusa's sleeve and--for the first time--Oxiclean couldn't get it out completely. Boooo.

do you guys look at rashguards people are wearing and correlate the color scheme with belt rank? Like some companies make their color assortment for that purpose?

I ask because I liked the look of some other color combos but reluctantly stuck with white / black on them so I don't come off as a douchebag

Great. Exactly what I want to hear. I imagine that with proper care, they could stay nice and white.

I will order at least one of those and a couple shorts and post them, hopefully with pics.

Not that I ever heard of. If that was true, then the white belts probably couldn't wear the blue gi, which they certainly do.

So if you are a white belt, no need to worry about sporting that blue or brown rashie.

That reminds me when we once had a total newbie come in for a class. Cool guy but no prior MA knowledge and the teacher has all the belts of his (black, brown, purple...) and other spare whites and blues hung up. The newbie said, "We can just put on any one of them, right?".

We were in stitches, ROFL.

LOL - good to hear, thanks!

I have a nogi speed that I got about 2 years ago that has this lovely vintage ivory color lol

both of my kaizens that I have had for 18 months, are still sparkling white. different materials though. love the kaizens. If budo ever runs another deal on them, I will be all over them.

I might have beef with broccoli, but beef with white rash guards?? Doesn't sound like it would taste very good. Also, I'm trying to go veg.

I'm personally not a big fan of white rashguards or white shorts for training. I think they look cool, but the fact that it's easy to show dirt and other nasty things, makes it unappealing for me. I remember the first BJJ place I ever trained at. I became friends with a guy there and I would just take the no-gi classes. He offered to give me an old gi he had so that I could take the gi classes. It was an old white Century Judo gi. It was really nice of the guy to give it to me, but when I got home I noticed little spots of blood stains on the inner collar. Needless to say, I never used the gi. Bloodstains can be difficult to get out.

As Stewie Griffin said: "the blue car doesn't show dirt." "It doesn't show dirt."

As for the rash guard colors corresponding to rank. I've heard that Renzo's school employs colored rash guards to denote ranking in his no-gi classes.

I hear you, veggie. I can take care of some clothes I really care about but I almost worry that maybe after one year (or one day), things might be great and then all of a sudden someone bleeds on it, you are SOL. But that white Hayabusa rashie just looks so dope I feel I gotta take a chance on it. But that is the risk.

Just to be precautionary, find out what gets blood out and any other potential stains you are worried about. I.E. I'm assuming bleach would be effective. Check in with Hayabusa to see if the rash guard can handle being cleaned with bleach (at least on a very rare occasion, make sure it can survive such treatment).

We've noticed that as long as you take care of it and wash it reguraly they tend to stay white for longer than you would think. We've sold a lot of these and haven't received any complaints about the white rash guard becoming dingy with repeated use.

Are you really asking if you nipples will show through?

I have yet to see someone in a white rashguard that didn't show a lot of nipple and chest hair when they started to sweat. I've never seen a Hayabusa in the flesh though, so whatever.

No no no, don't worry about stuff like that. Perhaps you should stay away from the rashies that are specifically made to reflect belt color if you train at some strict place. I'm talking about stuff like this one: JiuJitsuProGearBelt Ranked Rash Guard Long Sleeve Ranked

All that said, one of my favorite rashguards claim that I'm a purple belt who competed in the 2007 Pan-Ams. I've trained perhaps three times in my gi and don't even know where the '07 Pan-Ams were held. Budovideos just had a great sale on those rashguards and they were made by Manto.
