we had a guy crash a motorcycle into a couple not long ago, injured the husband, killed the wife. On tape, he tried to hide but they got him, i think he was some sort of repeat offender. From the footage of the crash it looks like he just wasn't paying attention, tried to cut past a car at an intersection and rand right into a couple against the light. But.., I drive a lot and I see stupid shit everyday from everyone, drivers, pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists.
The finger thing, I saw that a couple months ago, on the highway, motorcyclist was going way too fast, i'd estimate well over 80 and trying to whiz past a guy in front of him who abruptly changed lanes, most likely (like this guy) just not seeing him and the motorcyclist gave the finger. For whatever reason, the less protection commuters have, the more brazen and bold they are. Motorcyclists and bicyclists get way closer than they need to and if anything happens they want pity. It's not always easy to see these guys and they make it worse by rushing and zipping around. It's not even possible to see cars sometimes in my particular make with a couple odd blind spots and then driving on unfamiliar roads or maybe with confusing construction situations, it's crazy out there.
The way the biker was pleading tells me he probably had been in this situation before and knew he'd be in trouble if the cops got involved. Actually, the driver in front didn't seem to see him at all.
