Ive heard a lot of people saying that the sport is declining and that the cards are watered down. A lot of people appear to be losing interest. It reflects in the ppv buys.

Express your opinions here. If you have lost interest, why ?

EDIT: ok wrong terminology. ...obviously the sport isnt about to die. A large fraction of the fanbase is losing interest though. For those losing interest, i am interested in hearing why.

UFC peaked in 2010/2011... Im tired of seeing all these fight night cards, where literally each and every mainevent can be the 1st or 2nd fight of a main card on a legit PPV, or even on the undercard, when you compare it to a, lets say, UFC 92...

I think there is a difference between a dying sport and one that has leveled off. I think mma is in the second category. I don't find the cards now as intriguing as others and go to see then less often.

It's free. That's why it's not gonna be as stacked as a PPV. Get it?

It's like people don't realize free fights are a treat.

I've been a fan for many, many years and I definitely feel the cards are a lot less intriguing than they used to be. I still watch a lot of MMA, but it's a far cry from when I used to pay for every UFC PPV.

Its dead man.

Sherdog's incredible business analysts have spoken, game over.

R.I.P Zuffa.

I lost interest when I found out it's entertainment first, making money for Fertitta's/DW second and the 'sport of fighting' third.
It's not a sport and it will never be.

The sport will never die as long as people like the sport. Its just so fucking funny to me how people like to sensationalize things and stir up controversy. The sport will never "die" unless the human race goes extinct.

Enough people have been exposed to the sport and like it that it will always continue to exist unless human beings die off.

The idiotic question you just posed of "is MMA dying?" should never be asked in my opinion reflects a certain level of stupidity in the asker of the question.

The question should be, "is the popularity of MMA waning?" Its a good question. Yes, ppv buys have flatlined over the last 4 years. They aren't down, they're flatlining. I think the sport is growing around the world and mixed in with more events and watered down cards, the ppv's aren't doing as well.

buying PPV's for MMA is dying

MMA as a hole is doing great

Agreed. UFC lacks stars and there are way too many events which end up being really weak.

A few questions for you.

1. Is boxing a sport?
2. Is wrestling a sport?
3. Is Taekwon Do a sport?
4. Is Judo a sport?
5. Is BJJ a sport?
6. Is Muay Tai a sport?

The answer to all these is yes. So, how is it that you can combine all these sports (that are either olympic sports or competed at the world championship level) and have something thats not a sport?

And just so you know, making money and entertaining is more important than the actual sport in every organization around, including

NFL
MLB
NBA
NHL

Why do you think the NFL would preach about player safety and then do the no.1 thing they could possibly do to make the game less safe by trying to have an 18 game season?

Its all about money, not just for the UFC but all organizations.

Been a fan since 2008. There's been good cards and bad, UFC or not. Still love MMA as my favorite sport, and that won't change any time soon if at all.

I don't think its dying per se. i just think the initial hype around MMA is over and people have got used to seeing it all the time.

Its saturated plus there isn't any competition aside from UFC. Its not like when Pride was huge and was a legit competitor to the UFC where fans could talk about potentital match ups and have great debates.
