Do you think Adesayna will be able to wrestle Alex?

Ok, he did it in their first MMA fight. However, Alex is way bigger, so he needs to improve just a little bit to beat Adesayna in that aspect. That makes me think about Ngannou vs Miocic in their seccond fight. And, in favor of Alex, there is the claim of a broken hand, which could be not true or just irrelevant(fighters will always have something broken), making unecessary to put that in the equation.

I have a feeling he's gonna try and do what Jones did to Ciryl Gane. But Jones is one of the greatest wrestlers in the sport so it won't be as easy.

I think he will be able to wrestle Alex and get him to the ground a few times, but i don't think he will have what it takes to finish the job. Just my opinion

Izzy failed every takedown he initiated. The only one he actually got was a reversal to a trip takedown by Alex.

The problem is, you can’t wrestle for 25 minutes, especially if you aren’t a lifetime wrestler.

In short, brief exchanges maybe but Izzy isn’t a good enough wrestler to grind Alex out that way I don’t think.

In order to win, he will need to mix up his game and incorporate a takedown threat into his striking. It will matter how much he mixes it up and he will need a solution for those leg kicks that wore him out last time.

Izzy knows, as well as most of us, that the moment he starts wrestling, it's gonna be considered "panick wrestling".

And I believe he's too proud to do that. He's a kick boxer at heart, and the moment he starts wrestling, he has surrendered.

Alex actually outwrestled Izzy, but on one of his takedown attempts he ended up on the bottom

Do people on here really think Izzy will have a grappling heavy game plan?
I doubt Izzy can Wrestle for 25 minutes, he is predominantly a striker and wrestling gonna drain you if you are not used to it.

Unlike most people I think Izzy's has his best chances if he keeps it standing, I doubt he can get the Sub and even if Pereiras TDD is shit getting a big guy like that down is gonna drain your cardio.

No, he doesn't have the cardio for it. Making Alex believe he's going to wrestle though? That's a good idea.

I think he's just going to be on his bike the entire time. He'll fight more conservatively and hope to not get caught.

All of this wrestling attempts looks very amateurish. It wouldn't recommend him try that again.

He's not built for wrestling. Anderson Silva wasn't either, but Anderson did have good BJJ and submissions along with nasty body triangles. Given that Israel is 33 and spent most of his life working on pure kickboxing, I can't see him becoming highly competent at wrestling or ground skills.

Wrestling is exhausting for anyone other than life-time wrestlers. Izzy cannot wrestle, he will fade quickly, and get KOed. He can try to mix up a TD, but he is not rolling with anyone, it would sap all his strength/energy.

I don't think that is the path to winning at all. He may try it but it will not work out for him.

In pure striking round 1 and 2 showed Pereira can comfortably out strike Izzy while Izzy's best bet was a big shot (he landed one at least) but in round 3 Izzy completely sacked Pereira's cardio by just staying on top and making Pereira work and after Pereira was gassed Izzy was able to dictate the pace of the fight in round 4. So I do think he NEEDS to wrestle but if he can is another issue.
Issue is like others are saying is Izzy only took Pereira down once in 7 attempts. Unless he develops a great blast double or tricky single leg I just don't see him hitting takedowns. Pereira with more experience will also be developing better get ups. Something people seem to ignore in this matchup was Pereira wasn't being "out fought" he got caught big in the 1st and gave up a takedown in the 3rd. Those are mistakes that more experience in MMA will shore up.

It would be sort of funny if Izzy used his new takedown game and hit a blast double but Pereira countered with some new BJJ and caught an armbar or something.

i'm expecting this fight to be closer and alex having better wrestling defense than the first outing. he went five round with izzy in mma and has spent plenty of time with him in the kick boxing ring so he kind of knows what to expect its also not the hardest to find better wrestlers than izzy to train with which goes a long way.
izzy is good at switching it up and being creative though.

its not often i am as excited for a rematch. especially given these guys fought 3 times in kick boxing and once in mma already. the context of these two and their fights has been really interesting though. with izzy getting the better of most of the ring/ cage time but then getting clapped by alex with his patience power timing and persistence. its very much to me like a ninja fighting a terminator robot.

very interesting story between these two combat athletes.

Not for 5 rounds he can’t. And gassing against Alex is a really bad idea.

He’d probably be better off going for a quick KO. Either way.. If he fails he loses.

Gsp did... but izzy is no gsp

I really don't see Izzy approaching this fight much different.

I doubt his wrestling ability will any different then before. I'm guessing he has been working set up of his takedowns. That would be the easiest the thing to tweak during this short time. Just not sure once he is in the cage that training will come through. The dude is striker and always will be.

Yes, but his best chance is to mix it up and go for that big shot.
