Not that I mind or anything, but I can't really take female sports announcers or broadcasters too seriously. They may have insightful things to say, but I prefer to get my sports news from the likes of Chris Berman.

What really annoys me is when these female broadcasters on ESPN or some other sports network give their analysis on the sport of football or boxing.

haha
whats the punchline?

oh no not at all

When watching local (Norwegian) sports broadcasts, yes. Because then they will usually be former athletes from the sport talking about cross-country skiing or whatever is on at that time.

I started watching NFL games this season, and so far they seem to me to be much more formulaic token presence of the broadcasting team. Two men giving pbp and color, and one women doing interviews. It's a little weird to me.

ABC has a female play by play announcer for college football that I just can't listen to. Sideline reporting is fine by me.

I don't take any females seriously.

I find myself listening to sports news more so than watching when guys are talking.

When I hear a female voice, however, I'm glued to the tv., although my ears stop working and my imagination takes off.

Only during the olympics and during sports like volleyball, sailing, tennis, etc. Combat sports, for me at least, HAVE to be done by men.

Although, the first UFC did have a female commentator.

Typical Mayberry woman-hating thread is typical. Are you too lazy to judge every sportscaster individually based on their performance?

If they were a former athlete who know's what they are talking about, then yes.

If they are just a pretty face who's been told what to say so they can sound like they know what they are talking about (NFL), then no.

Women with journalistic integrity and passion for their job: yes
Women hired so broadcasters don't get accused of sexism: hell no

They don't have to be an athlete, but they do at least have to know the sport. Random totty that's there to keep the producer in mistresses? Not so much.

I disagree. I don't care how much you read up on the sport and watch it, you won't have the same insight as an experienced athlete. Look at Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg. Joe is decent at best, Mike is a fucking idiot. The only time the UFC actually has good commentating is when they get experienced fighters to do it.
