In a interesting turn of events Disney the same company which they erased John Boyega from the Chinese poster for Force Awakens a few years back.
Disney is now defending one of their own author for star wars high republic. After some had found out that the author a collection of nasty tweets towards a specif group of people.

Disney had come in the support of the author saying they do not tolerate racism or bullying. Either way i am not sure how this would help Disney.

Last time Disney had a bad PR was when one of Disney's Star War's official insulted Star Wars Theory for having a reaction.

rumour has it that fin was gonna be a love interest to Rey but Disney scrapped that after TFA. It shure looked like that in the movie. I learned it recently but they didn’t mentioned the reason. The Chinese angle make sense.

Even if Mandalorian was good this doesnt excuse this kind of behavior, racism is racism and hatred is hate. Same with Bullying.
The fact that Disney's own star wars twitter back the author for the past tweets. Well i guess that wont be probably a good move on Disney.

Imagine if this was the other way around you would be having the cancel culture demanding their job etc. Now you see hashtags on twitter in support of the author. Yet ignoring the other tweets the author did in the past.

Don't forget the recent live-action Mulan was filmed in China within a few miles of Muslim concentration camps, where Muslims are forced to eat pork.

But related to Star Wars, Finn was originally going to be a co-protagonist with Rey in the sequel trilogy, possibly eventually being Rey's love interest by the end.

Unfortunately, he eventually just became the token black comedy relief of the entire trilogy with little character development.

Why? Because Ep7 didn't do as well in China as Disney had hoped, and they tried sidelining Finn as much as they could... and the boxoffice dropped even lower in Ep8 & Ep9. Great job, Disney.

One of the actual writers of the High Republic, Justina Ireland, isn't any less of a racist.

And they're wondering why the boxoffice returns for Ep8 were lower than expected, Solo was a bomb, and Ep9 made even less money than what Ep8 was expected to make.


In short, Disney is giving lip-service to 'diversity,' while doing the exact opposite while attempting to make all their movies Chinese-Communist-Party approved.

Companies are damned if you do, damned if you dont. And they only have themselves to blame.

The way companies handle this stuff seems hilariously incompetent to me. People want more diversity and representation. So instead of creating new, beloved characters representing minorities they take established characters and turn them into black, female, whatever. The backlash is always palpable. The fans of the original hate the new versions and the woke people asking for inclusion feel like they are being pandered to with one dimensional characters or bigoted representation.(Token black guy, comedic relief, etc). The company loses all around.

If they would just make new characters and use the old ones to give them a spotlight it would work much better.
