I'm reluctant to say too much in case I spoil it for anyone. It's an excellent Doc on illegal US killings in Iraq, Afghanistan, drone attacks in Yemen and the backing of Warlords in Somalia.

I did a search and didn't see any discussion on it specifically but I think it is worthy.

Wether you agree or disagree with the motives or politics of this film, it's excellently put together and I was gripped from start to finish.

The problem with all documentaries is they are open to debate on whether or not they're legitmate, most of the time the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

So with all that said 9/11 was a joint effort between OBL and the government.

On topis; Cheers, i'll take a look tonight.

You're saying these killings are illegal, so someone somewhere must have a warrant for Obama's arrest?

Or were you just talking out your ass?

Illegal is what the makers call them. My own opinions on JSOC and SF operations are very different to the people who made this, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Some things that he obviously sees as upsetting and wrong, I see as good drills.

When you really boil it down to its base components, all wars are to increased the power of the global financial racket.

The US is just a stick they use to beat other countries over the head with.

I really had a problem with the guy that did documentary. He claimed he had never heard of JSOC. He made it sound like it was some new special secreat unit. JSOC was the tip of the spear that lead the invasion of Afghanistan. Thats their crown jewel, what special forces can accomplish. He lost some credibility with me on something so basic.
really bug me for some reason.

Edit: JSOC has been around the 80's and includes various Special units from the military.

It is average documentary. And usually I am a fan of scahill's work. But I have to say he is trying to make this documentary into a thriller those who watched it know what I mean.

I also disagree that a lot of the stuff he mentions being super secret and he uncovered it, is not true. In fact two of the units he spoke about had their identity revealed through the founders in books published in the 80s and 90s.

********SPOILER ALERT**************

JSOC was mentioned since the 80s or 90s in Colonel Beckwith book Delta Force the epilogue also mentions how JSOC was formed and which units are a part of it. Also mentions how the structure works. Scahill claims this unit was never revealed.

There are also a few scenes that make it seem that he is being tracked. Something out of jesse ventura's conspiracy theories.

I do give me lots of credit for exposing the illegal killing and questioning the orders to kill or capture.

*************SPOILER OVER******************

I do think Scahill reveals some good information that shows how the war on terror is being fought.

At the same time he does oversimplify things.

That being said recommend this documentary but it is not his best investigative reporting. And he does sensationalize the whole reporting side of it.

I agree. As much as I enjoyed it I felt he tried to over dramatise it and it was more of a brief tour of places not yet covered by lonely planet than it was a great piece of investigative journalism.

I hope to find more similar docs on Netflix.

I thought it was a good documentary. I really liked "The Square".

It wasnt bad, I however have trouble believing anything people say towards the USA good or bad. And for people to be shocked that these things happen during war? You are all out to lunch.
Another good one on netflix is The Big Fix about the corruption surrounding the BP Oil Spill kinda scarey how easy people are manipulated.

Just watched to first two parts on YT. Its very interesting, but seems to follow the usual script of:
- journalist investigates some classified/covert military govt topic, with the hypothesis that something shady is going on.
> can't get info because its classified and covert
> dramatises boring facts like 'the US has a special operations unit reporting directly to the white house, operational details for which will never be released' so he can still make a movie about it.

Still entertaining though, and I look forward to finishing it.

It did a good job of illustrating how tenuous a lot of our intel which we use for drone strikes is.

I also have a huge problem with assassinating US citizens without DP which was also highlighted in the documentary.

I thought the documentary was good for entertainment but not for education purposes. It really didnt have a point but to show examples of some secret missions the U.S. did. It felt like he was reaching a lot. I felt the documentary was more about the guy that directed it and feed his ego than actual US "Dirty Wars".
