There are lots of differences, there are actually only two species of alligator (American and Chinese), 14 species of crocodiles and 2 Gavialidae (gharial and tomistoma). The easiest way to tell differences is on alligators you only see the top row of teeth while on crocs you see top and bottom, crocs have more pointed shouts while alligators are more rounded.
Also, one will see you in a while and one will see you later
