Did Abdulmanap really care about 30-0?

I keep reading and hearing that Abdulmanap’s wish was for Khabib to retire at 30-0, but I’ve never heard it from Khabib or Abdulmanap himself before he passed.

Is there any validity to that, or is lazy media just picking up and running with Dana White’s typically self-serving narrative?

Sounds like number one bullshit

Khabib isnt retiring.

He was playing football against Uber Chef the other day with Clarence Seedorf.

The Arab aren't letting him quit like that... Hes too loved to walk away for good... He's enjoying his time for a while, but he'll come back stronger.

Whether Khabib retires or not, I am just hoping to tie this “papa wants 30-0” idea to a primary source.

Abdulmanap added that his only desire for his son’s last fight is to defend his belt in Moscow. Without a doubt, an event like this will sell out any stadium in Moscow. UFC has already been once in Russia and is gearing up another one for the late fall.

No one seems to mention Abdulmanap's desire for his son's last fight to be in Moscow..

Yea he did. See post above this one.

Why would you just assume it’s bullshit? Seems like a pretty bizarre conclusion to jump to.

Probably Abdulmanap cared most about his son not getting brain damaged.

Thanks, although my read of those interviews is that retiring early and the circumstances of the competition factored more than 30-0 as a magical number.

30 is a nice round number, but the '0' is the important one. Khabib has made more money as a fighter than he ever could have hoped, gained more fame than he ever could have hoped for, and it seems to me life has other plans for him, This is where you take over your dad's gym and carry on the legacy. And use some of that money and fame to make sure your community has better schools, better internet access, better food, clean water yada yada yada

30-0 is great but I am not sure it really matters. He's the LW GOAT I'd say already and he won't be THE GOAT by winning another fight. Get some more money before retirement but he'll need more than 30-0 if he's looking to cement a GOAT argument.

i think still having the zero and his sons health intact is the important part.

30 is a good round number but means nothing really.

Maybe, i think around the Dustin fight I heard him say. Dustin (28), Tony(29), and GSP (30). Since Gaethje beat Tony, Abdulmanap is probably fine with the Gaethje win, since Khabib dominated the guy who dominated Tony.

With GSP, it sounds like GSP isn't too keen on it anymore, however it could be a negotiation tactic on his end.

Nonetheless, I think he would be fine and happy with Khabib retiring at 29-0. The thing about 30-0 is that Manap likely assumed he would be alive to see it, but if he is watching from above, I think he is fine with Khabib's reasoning for potentially retiring. How could he not be happy after seeing Khabib's performance and emotional post fight interview.
