Dick Van Dyke on turning 100: 'It's not enough'

The guy is a legend. Happy birthday to him.

I always found it interesting that a lot of the prominent people involved with Your Show of Shows lived really long lives. Neil Simon, Sid Caesar, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks (still here, too!) all made it to over 90- some of them well over it.

So sort of interesting that Dick Van Dyke- the star of the show that Carl Reiner made as a sitcom derived from his experiences as a writer on Your Show of Shows is 100.

Dude met his wife in 2006 when he was 80 and she was 34. And they're still together 20 years later.

Either an incredible love story, or just a bad beat for her as she was probably sure he would die within a few years and she'd get to move on.

He is the last of the Danville, Illinois great actors. Hard to believe that Dick Van Dyke went to high school with Donald O'Connor, Bobby Short, Gene Hackman, and his actor brother Jerry Van Dyke.

<brucenod> Wonderful news. Cheers. Mel Brooks is right behind him.

Enjoy them while they are still around. We can all learn from them.

In reality she probably thought (like most gold diggers in this scenario), she wouldn't have to wait that long. Pretty fucking funny. Also, referring to her as a "health nut" was the best line he ever gave - good one, Dick ;)

Congrats on reaching 100, though, and by all accounts in great health. Impressive.

Imagine the amount of babies' blood he had to ingest on a daily basis. Good on him. Also, his wife looks like Charlie Chaplin in a fat suit. Anyway, enjoyed him on Nick at Nite and his brother in Andy Griffith in my youth.

Happy birthday and congratulations to him.
